Hi Dieter. Welcome on this forum Gentenaar !
It looks if you are (even being as yong as you are !) quite well trained to plan your trip(s).
After reading all the stuff on this forum you better put your remaining specific questions to your fellow members.
There is so much knowledge/experience but it's difficult to answer on 'broad' questions.
You will have a great time here with the best guide you can imagine: a Filipina woman, from Dumaguete btw, speaking probably also your language, having a house here in Dumaguete........ woww.... what can 2 man want more ? :D
They have a good beer here :D , but don't expect the same variation as in Belgium. Have a good time, zunne !

    Good advice

Ok, I know what I have to do first. I will try to buy some travel guides and highlight the things I want to do. Next week I'm going to visit the Filipina woman here in Belgium and I can easily ask her some questions too.

    Thanks again for your advice.

    Hi there

It seems that I have already find one who speaks my language. Are there a lot of dutch-speaking-people who are currently living on the Negros Island or in the cities nearby?

And I do like a good beer, so any suggestions about good beers or drinks they have on Negros?

Dieter, it's a bit off topic of course.
But yes, there are some Belgian people living in this Dumaguete area as well as Dutch.
Hope you focus more on the Filipinas (and Filipinos) than on foreigners.
Those you can see as much as you want now around you :D
And being only 24 years old as you are.....oh gosh....if I was on that age
Beer enough, but not 300 different types (or more) as you have them in Belgium. But San Miguel Beer, San Miguel Light, Colt 45, Negra, Red Horse and some others do pretty well.
The best beer ? The one YOU like the most (like another forum member likes to reply).
Have a nice stay here. Proost !

    Beer and drinks

The best and the main producer of beer in the Philippines is St. Miguel. They make Pale Pilsen (a standard pilsen 5% alcohol), St. Mig. Light (light on calories still 5% alcohol), Stong Ice (an icebrewed beer 6% alcohol), Cerveza Negra (a dark beer) and a few others. They also make the Red Horse brand, which is a strong and slightly cheaper beer, usually sold in large ½ liter or even 1 liter bottles.

Just try all of the above and see which one you prefer. There aren`t really any other producers, that can be recommended (in my opinion of course), but luckily St. Miguel is perhaps the cheapest quality beer in the world, so we do just fine with that.

As for other drinks, locally produced rhum is also an institution and incredibly cheap. For less than 1 euro, you can pick up a 75 ml bottle of standard Thanduay rhum, which should then be consumed with coke and plenty of ice (watch out for hangovers :D ). There are also several makers of cheap brandy. For around 4 euro you can get a bottle of Thanduay rhum, which is 15 years old, and this can then be consumed "on the rocks" i.e. with ice only, as you would do with a good whiskey or cognac.

    Lars
