    Rhoody,

Sorry mate - but how can you be so blind?

It should be obvious (and I'm sure RHB will back me up on this) that you have parked at an angle of 28 degrees instead of the mandatory 30 degrees.

    Al.

you are right, but the "Traffic Officer" told me to park at that spot...

anyway. I bought that bike at that time 1 year and 2 month old, way cheaper than a Honda Wave (including the cheap x-mas deal) ...or any Rusi Scooter..

    cheers

Definitely humorous Rhoody and frustrating at the same time. Even though in this situation it's pretty minor, one of the biggest problems in the Philippines is the inequitible enforcement of the laws. This is something all foreigners need to be aware of.
Not too long ago I was riding with my brother-in-law and he was stopped by an officer. After a bit of discussion I saw P200 get hidden in the officer's ticket book and the event quietly ended. I'd always heard of it, just never witnessed it in person.
    ....and so it is.

    Tim,
no problem if dealing with someone. maybe I should go to the station to pay my bill... just to have fun... hehe

Another true story... One of my DI-partners girlfriend drove on a Scooter from Mayoong Tubig to Dumaguete... Traffic control in Bacong.. she had no papers, so the Officer confiscated her bike (all completey legal and correct) But then, the Officer borrowed the girl HIS bike to drive back and get the papers.... only in the PI

    cheers

Oh man, that IS funny! I think it just goes to show that Filipinos are good at heart but get trapped in the system like a lot of people do.

    Mentality of Dumaguete

What happened was presumably, that this trafic officer tried to solve the problem at hand, i.e. where you could park your bike for a few minutes without it being in the way of other people. And then came along another trafic officer, who didn`t know about the advice of his colleague, and who for some unknown reason felt like issuing a parking ticket.

A bit funny though, that a trafic officer actually tells you to park in a place, where it is illegal. But in a way also charming and very telling about the mentality of Dumaguete. Most people in Dumaguete are helpful and try to solve problems rather than getting worked up about formalities. You were just unlucky then to run into one of the exceptions, but fortunatly in a matter, where it is not really critical

Rhoody, your bike is Hot ! my advice, can I ? is to dress up , leather and high boots and all... to pay your ticket. Next time that officer see your handsome bike they will know it's yours. You are more polite and respectful than this man in the news. I am glad it was not you.

    Traffic enforcer files
    charges vs. bizman
    BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

A businessman who allegedly forced into the mouth of a traffic enforcer, a citation ticket issued to him for a traffic violation in Dumaguete City , is now facing charges, the City Legal Office revealed.

Businessman Larry Estacion reportedly parked his motorcycle in a parking space for four-wheeled vehicles, and was issued a citation ticket by traffic enforcer Farrel Catan.

Estacion was allegedly irked and stuffed the citation ticket into Catan's mouth.

City legal officer Neil Ray Lagahit said that by filing the complaint against Estacion, the local government is sending a strong message to would-be traffic violators that nobody is above the law.

Lagahit said Estacion's act is an affront not only to the traffic enforcer but also to the city government.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police in Dumaguete is keeping up to its tag as a child-friendly police station.

A group of school children visited several government agencies recently, including the city PNP and Bureau of Fire Protection.

Women and Children's desk officer SPO2 Josefa Lakandula briefed the children from Kaino's Montessori of Batinguel about their job.

The children were also told not to play with toy guns.*JG
