The fishponds in Bio-os, Amlan attract the migratory egrets at this time of the year. The egrets feed on fish, crustaceans, and other crawlies in the ponds.

    hello Balustre!
    Nice and encouraging picture.

"migratory egrets" d'you mean they come and go?

When i was a kid (more than 30 years ago) these birds had been there already and we called them "Talabong". They're hanging around for a long time already and you can find them around the coastline of Bais bay also. They love to hang around with the farm tractor toiling the land for sugar plantation and they're after the insects creeping under the excavated soil. Go to Manjuyod at Sycip Plantation and you can have an interesting view of them.
I am happy that they grow in bigger number now.

There is a black version of them, though very few can see them because they are noctornal birds. They move around at night time. We call them "Tikling" and thats where the name of the "Tinikling" Dance come from.
I would be very happy if you can take picture of them.
That must be an award winning picture.

    Thanks again.

    Thanks BoomErang,
I'll check out those tiklings when I visit Negros in July. They are nocturnal so it might be tricky to find them and to take photos of them.
The egrets in Bio-os are migratory. It would be exciting if they are found to nest and breed in Negros. They usually breed in the northern countries like Russia, Japan, and Korea. They visit Negros and feed from September to March.
