As i said in a previous post i recently had a trip to Makati for a few days. This is the first time in nearly 4 years that i have been in an airport so i expected some new rules to be in place but it was just a re-hash of the old ones. I fell foul of a rule at Sibulan, i don't know if it's new or not but i have not experienced it before, i had a small 3m measuring tape in my carry on laptop bag, i was told i could not take it, i don't know what danger i could cause with a measuring tape but no point in arguing so i just left it behind. The rules also seem inconsistant between different airports, Sibulan Manila terminal 3 Scan check in and hand carry YES NO luggage, empty pockets on entering airport. Laptop out of bag at NO YES departure security. The shoes off rule which disappeared years ago has since been resurrected at both airports for whatever reason. Happy travels PS, 4 years since i have been in Manila and most of the taxi drivers still don't want to turn the meter on or know where they are going for that matter.
Hope people still understand what airport the yes's and no's correspond to, for some interminable reason when i posted all the text was aligned to the left, i don't have any more time or patience to try and fix it.
I think these rules apply already for a couple of years. Don't remember exactly when it was but a few years ago I tried to hand carry a USB cable which was 2m. I got told it could be used to tie up somebody. Discussion useless. Recently I headed from Germany to Dubai. In my hand luggage were a few packs of spreadable cheese I wanted to gift to a friend in Dumaguete. No way. Spreadable cheese not allowed. Funny thing I got told if I put all the cheese on a slice of bread I could enter the aircraft without facing any issues. Once out of the box it's allowed. Still in the box there is no way. Could tell you more stories. There is no logic behind and each airport has its own regulation. Discussion totally useless.
Gave up on Manila Airport over a decade ago. Always use Mactan in Cebu. If a Taxi does not turn on meter, do not get in. When I hail a Taxi, I never even tell them where I want to go, I say turn on your meter. If they stare blank at me, I walk on and hail another. I have much more time than them to get it right!
John don't kid people on that is you in the Pic tall dark and handsome, just tell the truth you are an ugly bald headed Fecker
It is getting that way in the US. I just came back from a trip to Oklahoma for a corporate get together and going there I needed to pull out my work laptop. Coming back they told me to leave it in. Maybe different airports have different technologies now?
