    Hi all,

I am from Malaysia, 23 years old of Chinese descent, looking to escape the corporate world and thinking of coming to Dumaguete as a traveler to stay for a while. I plan to write a book, understand new cultures and maybe even fall in love.

What are some of the cost of living figures for:
Rent for a room including utilities, nothing fancy
    Cheap meal at local store
    Beer at the bar
    etc

    Thanks!

Thanks Swany. Yeah, been browsing but still don't seem to get a rough idea.

So from that price guide with a little allowances, will these be enough:

    Rented room: 5000
    Electric and water utilities: 1000
    Broadband Internet: 1000
    Food: 3000
    Entertainment: 2000-4000
    Misc: 1000
    Total 13,000-15,000

Would that be okay? I plan to live slightly above average, not by too much. I can live simple if needed. I won't be eating much in fancy restaurants or anything like that. I would like to live like a local.

It will be a very basic life with 300 - 400 dollars, but possible, really depends on your lifestyle...
