Great pictures, Rhoody! Thanks for sharing. We never got to do the dolphin watching during our trip. Maybe we'll do it next time:smile: I agree with you, p_n. Trained dolphins like the ones here in Seaworld San Diego are amazing to watch but I'm sure the ones that are in their own habitat are even more spectacular.

    Cool, VERY Cool

Coming from Florida I can be a little jaded about things like seeing Dolphins or an ocassional whale as this was quite common where I lived. Almost any calm day I went out to dive or fish I would see many dolphins. But to be honest, I NEVER SAW DOLPHNS SO BEAUTIFUL AND SO MANY LIKE THIS in bais. WOW, great photos and it's nice to know that fisherman here aren't hunting them.

I would like to go there with my familiy so can you please explain who to call, where to go to get a boat, what time to show up, and suggestions on what to bring. How much time are we on the water. Are their life jackets as my wife and her sister are not swimmers

    thanks

I haven't heard of people eating or selling dolphin meat . I was grew up by the seaside along the Tanon strait and when I was small I sometimes heard from local fishermen where we bought fresh catch telling their accounts being pissed off with dolphins mocking about ,interfering with the fishing and their nets torn and they resort to ridding of these dolphins with their spears, some die of them. At this present time there's already a ban to kill them .

Some hotels like Bethel in Dumaguete can offer you a deal for dolphin watching but ofcourse prices are higher because of the middleman. They charged per head for the boat but that also include food and transport heading to Bais,I reckon it cost per head over a thousand pesos . If you don't know much around Dumaguete or the area ,this can be helpful ,less stressful and more convenient deal. You can also give the Dumaguete tourism office a ring or the Bais tourism and they will organize it for you.I think this site has links posted in diff page where you can get the contact for dolphin watching.

There are Bais locals enterprising with this particular activity too with their 12 -18 person capacity boats and they do even cater for food for P150 pesos per head also with life jackets ,just knew this when we tried organizing this activity last month. But in the end we decided to book it down by the next town of Manjuyod as it is closeby only less than 10 minutes from the house . We were asked to start as early as 6:00 am to 7:00 to catch the dolphin feeding time .So if you are starting off in dumaguete then you have to get up few hours earlier to make up the time.We did the dolphin watching just over an hour then head off to the Manjuyod sand bar for the rest of the day. That was good it didn't take longer for the herds of dolphins to show up.But one boatman said sometimes it can be harder to spot these dolphins ,some do reach near cebu tracking for dolphins perhaps has to do also with the time of the year, but you can find dolphins along the Tanon strait .
