In order to make this community better and for new users to be able to tell who has been around for a while and who is helpful to other members I have added the forum reputation function.

When you see a post you like or dislike you can rate the post.

    The function works like this:

Click the rating symbol of the post from the user you want to rate, you need to do this at post level, not the starter thread.

After you click the add reputation button you will see a box pop up like this:

Type in what you think about the post and click the "I Approve" or "I Disapprove" check box.

Once you gain enough positive reputation, your reputation bar will grow [IMG].

They red was gone already early Feb... It was just already branded" in your mind. Some still have red, and some who had red were that much over the top that we need to ban them

    cheers

On forums I belong to that have a reputation function, it's usually abused and mostly annoying. There's always members with nothing better to do who think cyber-opinions of others and/or their reputation points really matter, gleefully wielding their little axe..

I've never seen the value in it, and never left a reputation comment in over 10yrs online. It makes too much ado about nothing.

    Guess I'll get a negative rep now...OMG !

perhaps you havent been inspired enough by the posts :D

IMO its really prone to abuse, but if properly used, it really invites forumers to post more and more appropriately and substantially

behind this reputation are some filters and options, what makes the abuse difficult. It is not much used on DI anyway. Some members are 2 or three points from the next rep-level (another green, or grey and red),
They are used in a quite appropriate way so far...

I won't beat you up for trying something different. I just don't think it's a good idea. What are you running, a popularity contest? E-Bay?

Let's see how it goes for a bit - be prepared to kill it and explain why.

Will we be encouraged to rate the moderator as well?

useless function, I had not even noticed it untill I checked my profile, than found I had got 2, 1 calling me a 'racist toad' for a completly harmless post and 1 positive just saying hello to a new member.

absurd that ppl use to function for anomynous insults (like the interenet is not anomynous enough). If it was a post I would likely have reported is as abuse, any b@st@rd calling me that in my face I will likely deck.
