If you are looking to get hired by a company and not free lance,
You will need a degree in database systems and specifically mySQL interface experience. Graduate credentials are even better.

Why advanced degree you ask, the systems are changing so fast grad courses are the only ones on the cuting edge, and that varies.

Many guys in the U.S. work there way up without any degrees. But at some point they reach a ceiling that with out a degree they can not penetrate.

I went to grad school with a guy who knew more about computer systems than any of the proffessors, and actually ended up teaching the class in an exchange for opting out of testing. He needed the stupid degree to get the management promotion he sought.

If you're a Web programmer / Web Developer, than what are you doing on a tourist and chit-chat board looking for a job?

Go the online manpower and employment sites, theres only about a zillion of em. Use the internet, you're the web expert.

    Jeesh!

Recruitment, 457 visa, Unison Partners, Overseas Skilled Labour, Recruit Philippines, 457 Workers, Engineer Recruiting, Philippine Nurses, IT Recruitment, Filipino Labour, Philippine Engineer

This is one of a number of recruitment companies bringing skilled people from the Phils to Australia. A new class of visa (called a 457) has been introduced to help address the skills shortage here. It is a 2 year working visa after which you can apply for permanent residence.

Where i live in Perth (Western Australia) there is a mining boom and almost full employment. One company I know recently recruited 200 welders/sheet metal workers, all from the visayas.

Leizel there is a shortage of commerce grads here, partcularly business analysts and accountants. Major accounting firms are offering scolarships to kids still in high school to get them to study commerce at university. They claim there are currently 4 jobs available for every 1 accounting grad.

The negative side of coming to Perth, rents and house prices are very expensive and it's a bit dull after living in asia.

Who knows how long this boom will last but it has never been easier to get into Australia as it is right now.

ORVC. greetings from phoenix. it must be frustrating for you. i know how it feels to be in that situations where your skills doesnt meet what is in demand in the area you are in. needless to say, just be positive with how things are going in dumaguete. with more and more foreigners and locals alike settling in dumaguete, i believe there would be a demand for your skills. web developing can take place anywhere anyway as long as you have access to the internet, right? I for one, grew in dumaguete but plans to settle back in dumaguete and engage in business as well. In fact i am traveling to dumaguete this coming may. I have a property that i would like to develop and would hopefully develop a website. harness on your skills. go online. post at craigslist about your skills. somewhere, somehow, someone will see you. as you might know, everything is hooked on the web. dont lose hope. our country is rich and diverse that there will always be demand for your skills. real estates, tour operators, hotel and restaurant managers, housing rentals. all of them needs your skills. market yourself. the oppurtunities is within your reach. your own backyard. regards. ariz

Join and seek out networking groups like the local chambers of commerce and ask for what you are looking for . Today's climate , looking in the want adds is not enough . You have to circulate to perculate . Visit firms , check out their web presence , make suggestions , etc.. shake hands , ask questions ...put it out in the universe that you are looking and hone in on what 's setting you apart from others like you out there ?
    maria from Arizona
I will be in Dumaguete in April ..love to hear how things are with you .
