If for some reason you could no longer stay in Dumaguete, say something terrible happened like they stopped the building of Robinsons, and so now you had to move somewhere else in PH, where would you move too?
err, i don't think foreigners would move out simply because robinsons stopped building. some would even be happy. :D
I've heard a foreigner was kicked out from Dumaguete for being a drunk and for running over 3 people with his vehicle. I think he moved back where he came from or he might just end up floating somewhere or get broke living here. Another foreigner was kicked out by his wife for cheating on her with a 15 year old girl, he is now leaving in Siaton. He gave up his 5 million peso house rather than go to jail for statutory rape if his Filipina wife will report him to the law. Palawan is cheaper but you will be caught in the smuggling triangle between Sulu, Tawi-Tawi and Sabah. I heard Jack Sparrow lives there too!
Mostly women love Robinson....ok if your been kicked out, you can go to cebu ang negros occidental. This places have more nice beaches than negros oriental (if you love beaches). I can understand, when robinson is there , wife will not kick out foreighner husband because she needs allowance from him for her shopping in robinson everyday.
I would guess that many of the reasons people chose Duma would apply to other places in the Central Visayas. This would bring up many options on Cebu and Bohol. Although it's farther north and a little more isolated, I thought Romblon might be worth investigating.
I've never been to Benguet Province, but that has held some interest for me too. The most attractive feature is the average temp being around 70 f. With that being said, the air quality is poor in Baguio because the winds don't get down in to clean out the valley and the traffic is a bit of a challenge. I even peeked at google earth and had a glimpse of the traffic, holy cow! Not just the main drag, but nearly every road you view is clogged.
