⌛ ISO Silliman or USC Nursing grads

Does anyone here know/able to get in contact with Nursing grads educated in the Philippines working in the US? Prefer grads from Dgte's Silliman U, or Cebu's USC.

I'd like to communicate with some grads and get information about their transition to the nursing job in the US; mostly whether there was additional education required in the US etc (I don't think that's the case)

Like I said I'd like to get info first hand from someone who's working in the US as a nurse from one of those colleges.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had to re-exam..

Maybe that guy who had something to do with Nursing studies in Dgte, (Bill?) would know of some grads if he's on this forum.

I have two cousins (SU nursing graduates), who are now working in big hospitals in the US. It's easy for me to reach them and have them call you or vice versa.

hi swany. the forum i think would like to know why the interest among silliman nursing graduates or USC for that matter. i know some who are based here in the US as well. if it is for a public discussion or academic endeavour on your behalf, i would be interested. ariz.

It doesn't calls for my job, whatever that means. It's a simple question that doesn't pose a threat to anyone. Though you and Arizona are all alarmed about it for some reason.

- Really, who elected you to speak for the entire forum? And the "Why" to my question is my business, and no one else's by the way. A little terse perhaps, but it's not your business that's for sure.

It's not that important. I can get some contacts from USC and Silliman universities when they open back up after break, or from an internet search. I'm not going to argue with Heckle and Jeckle forum trolls who have nothing better to do over it.

I think I can answer your question since I graduated from SUCN and is working the US. After you get your nursing degree and passed the NCLIX exam (US Licensure which is now offered in the Phil ) there are no more schooling require. You can work as an RN just like other NCLIX passers. A Basic Cardiac Life Support (AKA CPR) certification is required, to work in hospitals, Dr's office, youth camps and areas where you have direct contact with people.

Additional schooling depends upon your goals and the direction you want your nursing career to be. If you want to teach in a university, PhD is a must. In clinical setting, every department appear to be so specialized and having a certification in your particular practice is a plus, in terms of money and status. Certifications are usually just self study and take (& pass) exams.
