Yabs..you're joking right? Have you spent much time in America?..I worked there a few years and went all over...plenty of good food across the country. Unfortunately I also did about 50 UK trips....can't say the food there was anything exciting...unless it was done by migrants. Since America is mostly migrants, and their descendants, the food choices there are amazing...last trip....last year...we had some great Brazilian and Lebanese food. Americans have some wonderful food choices....and McDonalds there offers some good alternatives too:smile:

Mate, you seem to have a bit of a stiffie for the Yanks...what happened...missus run off with a Yank sailor? Give it a rest....

you must have a sweet tooth then
ALL food in America seems to have added sugar and lots of it
had several Thai and chinese meals and all were crap
loads of added sugar and bland
why do you think the Philipinos add sugar to everything
yep america has loads of immigrants but they were mostly the ones the other countries wanted to get rid of
    nothing against americans per se
just hate the culture that spreadsz across the globe like a virus
Look they have taken many great foods and turned them into commercial
    artificial crap
look at what they did to coffee and Pizza for instance
the Uk has some ropey food too
no argu ments there but you can get good indian and asian food
we don't add sugar to everything and our beef is not bionic
remember the uS is the only country where cattle are allowed to be fed steroids and foods are genetically modified
its all about profit and nothing else
America has no culture and it offends me and most other people when they try and export what crap culture they do have around the globe.
ie Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Macdonalds, Burger King, KFc , TGI FRIDAYS etc etc etc
name one that has an ounce of sophistication or quality?

    Oh god...here we go again...
Thai and Chinese food in Europe (that includes England - believe me I bloody know), Oz, Canada, and the US...is rubbish. Nothing like the real thing. Unless you're prepared to find the Thai and Chinese locals - and get their intel - you will eat rubbish. They modify the preparation to suit western tastes. My wife (Filipina) is a also a trained Thai chef. By one of the best in the country (we actually had a Thai takeaway in Saudi that was EXTREMELY successful, had to shut it down because it was TOO successful) She can do authentic dishes in her sleep. And I eat better than anyone I know...

I love when someone whom is not familiar with “Gumbo” (Yabs) tries to define what it is, it makes me laugh. (I have been making gumbo for over 30 years and I have never put in any kind of beans.) This is for you Jim:
Gumbo is a Creole stew, usually made with tomatoes, okra, onions, and other vegetables and various amount of meats or seafood. In my opinion, “Seafood Gumbo” is the best of all the gumbos. With my seafood gumbo, I start with a nice golden brown roux (gravy) as the thickener; add in onions, celery, garlic, green peppers stewed tomatoes, okra and file’. Add in sausage, ham, chicken gizzards and hearts, crabs, shrimps and oysters and of course “Tabasco Sauce”(the trick is knowing when to add in each ingredient). When this is ready, you serve it over a bed of rice and sit back and enjoy each flavor separately on your tongue, it is truly a treat and a dish that you will always remember. :D

This is not my place it is owned by one of my friends. If you are coming from down town it is located on the main highway past St. Paul University on the left hand side, next to Russo’s carwash.
