hi Im going to dumaguete soon to buy a house,Wheres a nice place to start looking in the area, would like near the beach/city. my first option was valencia but i think it rains too much there(im irish,fed-up with rain).any ideas would be great, thanks.N
aaa111 try Islandproperties.com to give you some choices, then check out the forum you find some sound advice available and photographs of some area;s by a few of the members (try classifieds ads too ) regards john
Use the realators to get a feel for the area and what's available, but don't buy from them unless you want to pay them exhorbatent commissions. There are many properties privately sold, do not rush into any deal. Rent a place and take your time to decide IF you really want to buy, or invest. If you search this forum you will read about all the pitfalls involved and risks.
I lived in Dumaguete for 3 weeks. I had a nice big place with a pool, maids, cook and a driver. If you like a zillion scooters and trikes and traffic up the ying yang then, Duma is for you. Outside of Dumaguete, Valencia and beyond is great but, the internet does not work all the time out there right now. Lastly, when I was there, brown outs were on a daily basis. I would highly suggest that you stay there for a while before you buy anything.
always good advice, . I guess everyone has a different impressions and expectations. Internet, lack of brown outs, and malls, or clean toilets should not be high on your priority list to live here. Valencia has consistant Broad band, even in the city speed can fluctuate greatly. Echir would have all us foreigners living in compounds outside the city anyway close to the beaches. for our convenience...:D
RHB, similiar to a conversation I had with a friend up here in Pampanga last week. He was telling me that he was thinking of moving down to Davao. He said that the cost of living was inexpensive, the city does not allow trikes, and there is no smoking in the city too. I said that he should go there for a few weeks or a month to really assess the place before he moves there for good.
Hey just noticed taxi cabs driving around the city this week, didn't geta good look, to see if it was the same one or where it hailed from... sorry for the bad pun.
To be perfectly honest Tricycles need to be limited or banned in Dumaguete soon, there are just too many, over 3,000 I was just recently informed. There are better solutions, public transit or private contractors with assigned routes like easyrides. I know someone will say you can't put all those drivers out of work. So better to choke the streets with un inspected smoking pcs of junk? Maybe they can get a job at the new mall...
What do I read RHB ? "NEED to be limited or banned" You see....'need' is very easy 'misused' by all of us. But I don't disagree your opinion here. I fully agree.
