I am currently living in Cebu but thinking to move later this year.

I have made it a project to learn the Cebuano language and I believe it is what is spoken in Duaguete.

Cebuano is the dialect, but in different areas it has different nuances, In Cebu they drop the L sound in many(but not all words). "Wala" here becomes "Wa" in Cebu.
I am lazy to learn, my wife says, but my hearing loss makes it difficult to pick up the subtle sound differences, especially in slang dialect spoken quickly. My excuse.

I have amassed a large amount of study guides and Grammar on my computer if interested. The other problem I have, is that while Visayan has been written down a codified as to grammer, their is much debate on what is "correct". Cebuano sub dialecct is different that Negros Oriental. The dialect, not taught in schools like Tagalog, is subject to much local oral tradition and interpretation.

There have been other threads here on this topic at length, have a search.
