⌛ Advice on Van Rentals & Beach Resorts

Anyone from Dumaguete, can you help me?

My family and I live in Sydney, Australia. I am from Dgte though but left Philippines 12 years ago. I have relatives though in Dgte but since I haven't get in touch with them for that long, I don't want to ask them what I am asking in this forum. We'll go there as a surprise on Sept. 20, this year and stay at Sta. Monica Beach Resort.

I prefer to stay in beach resort than inns & hotels like Bethel Guest House (my sister from U.S. said it's clean, good and near to everything) because this is the first time my husband and kids visit Dgte. I want them to experience what's in Dgte.

Is Santa Monica Beach Resort near the city and good comfortable resort to stay in? What about South Sea Beach Resort? Which of the two is better and nearer the city?

Also, can you help me decide which of following van services can offer cheap rental for whole day, say from 9:00 A.M to 6:00 P.M. If possible, can you give me how much each van service charge for whole day? Also, if there are more other than one below, can you add them to the list and how much is the rent?

For me it Santa Monica. Van rental prices? No clue. Probably someone in this forum can help you out on this. SCUD's is Ok, from my experience.

Try to call this one, 011-63-9185319703 and 011-63-35-4222981. His name is Nelson Lucanyas. He is my classmates brother. I am using his van too by the time we arrive in Dgte. by June 2nd. He might be reasonable because he owned the van. Ask him about your concern of your service package because i never been in that deal yet. You can trust him too, he is very good guy, my classmate now in Germany recommend him to use his service.
About beach resort, we have plenty of nicer ones if you consider away from proper Dgte. Bahura, Atlantis, El Dorado and more. All of them have websites and ask a discounts if you stay 2 or more weeks. Maybe they give you a break. Bye and good luck..

What an excellent idea to have your family really ENJOY DUMA and experience the beauty and relaxation of the resorts.

Bethel House is clean and nice (yet right on the BLVD and no real nature around it nor any pool) BUT your kids will LOVE the South Sea Beach resort better since there is a pool and it faces the ocean! It is a great place!

We have previously stayed in Sta. Monica and it is quite nice, if you want to be close to town. But from others we have been recommended to try Thalatta Resort, it is near the Malatapay market, so 30 minutes to drive maybe? From the photos I saw it is a very nice place with a big pool close to the restaurant and the European cook is good I was told. Maybe someone in this forum has more experience. Many resorts in Dauin area are also nice.

I cannot help much regarding rentals - I had no idea there were so many! A friend of mine visiting there last year rented a van from Happy Freds in the Boulevard. I have no idea what he paid per day. I recommend you to shop around and negotiate long term rates when you are there. Sometimes it can be a good idea to actually see the van first!

For me i prefer santa monica. Nice area, nice food. its only like 10 to 15 mins away from the city. and if ur family likes adventure, u can take a tricycle or "pedicab" as we call it... dolar rent a van is also good. i know the owner "mario", but i dont have his number as i am not in dgte now...
But if you also like so stay in much higher price but excellent resort, i recommend the resorts in dauin..there's plenty and the're all great! about 20 to 30 mins away from dumaguete goin south..
