As you might find searching other threads the rental prices vary considerably, location (far or near city), condition, and whether you use a realator or look yourself are all factors.
As an example I know a place in Upper Batingel,15 minutes from downtown. very small, two bedroom, two aircons, fully furnished for 8,000 pesos, I have no connection to it nor do I have more details. But if that is inexpensive for you I can direct you there.
I have seen prices from 5-15,000 for similar sized houses and appartments.

i am looking for a shipper to move our possessions from davao to dumaguette but am so far having no luck so a furn place for 8 k sounds ok. if i can find a place for 4 or 5 k i will be in better shape- even if i have to buy refri and a/c there- thank you- thank you for your your description of the lizard in your web page. i always wondered what they looked like and always look for then when i hear them- they are in usa also.

Hello, if you are looking for a place with privacy, internet, running water, telephone, cook, and assistance in travel arrangements; then this place is for you. -- there are other places for rent at "backpacker" rates, and there are boutique resorts available from php 800 to 3,500 per night, if that's what you're looking for.

 

mrbee I think his price is as quoted. You can rent the upstairs of this house for 10,000 a week or 40,000 a month! Most foreigners I know have found 3 and 4 bedroom houses that are really nice from 8,000 to 20,000 a month. I have no idea why anyone would want to rent the upstairs of a house for this price and I wonder if there is even a separate entrance.

My g/f and I rent a room at Harold's Mansion. We have a few cooks here, lots of assistance with travel, running water hot and cold, room cleaned daily with fresh towels, free breakfast (coffee and toast), free internet all day if you have a laptop, and enough privacy for me. I pay a little over 600 a day for the both of us. I am looking for a house or apartment to rent that is furnish but I am not going to pay any where near 40,000 a month to live over someone else even if it has a swimming pool you can use! Just the opinion of someone who is looking to get by here on a small pension.

 

House Hunting a Bust

I too have been looking without success. It looks like I came here at the wrong time. School starting again and so on. I am going to tour around the area tomorrow to see what I can find a few miles away from Duma. It looks like I may have to return to Colombia and try this at later date and try to rent before I get here.
