It was time for another Field-trip for me, so with some contacts made in advanced I had the chance to visit Dumaguete’s biggest employer Teletech. After some routine security procedures we were sitting a few minutes in the Lobby and waited for Alex Flores the Site Director for Teletech Dumaguete. Not that he was on Philippino Time, we were just too early. Mr. Flores is originally from Manila and assigned in Dumaguete at the moment. As I am more a nature-boy I was actually surprised about the Design and the interior of Teletech. Knowing some big offices in Germany it was nice to see the warm colors everywhere and even there are hundreds of working stations the place seems to be a kind of spacious. Alex leaded us to his office and we talked about what else than Diving… so one of my goals in the future is to show him the beauty of “my” office under water. Teletech Dumaguete is with around 900 employees the biggest company of the area and the plan is to extend that to 1,200 by the end of the year. Even that sounds a lot, its Teletech’s smallest branch in the Philippines. After I finished all the Teletech-candies in his office, Alex invited us for a tour through the building. He explained the different areas and gave me a small inside-view how Teletech runs their daily business. I was actually impressed about the amenities the company provides for their staff. That includes a nice canteen, cafeteria, some rest-rooms where employees can have a nap before work as well as a well equipped medical room including doc and nurse. The trainings-center prepares new staff for their future project. Teletech is a call-center which provides verbal and non-verbal services. The intensive training for the non-verbal (what means basically chatting) projects lasts only 5 days. But I guess that is enough in the Yahoo-Messenger-Paradise. :D A nice smokers-area with a big-screen projector is as well there as an activity center with Pool-Table. The online Connection of Teletech is provided by PLDT with a Globe backup line. I hope that their Globe works better than mine or maybe Teletech uses that much Globe-bandwidth that there is nothing left for me…. After an hour or so we finished the tour with Alex and I must admit that I changed my view about this big offices and call-centers a bit. I think next time I need the service of one (for whatever reason) I try to be more polite to the lady or gentleman on the other end of the line… hehe. Nah, that wouldn’t be Rhoody then!!!! :p cheers Rhoody
Hi! Thanks for all the nice things you've said about TeleTech! That makes me proud being part of this company. I think i missed your visit. That'd could have been a chance of me seeing you personally... hehe!!! Alex is my boss...
Hi Kjigs, Alex is a great guy and was for me a fantastic host, I am just about to write him a mail as we also talked about some diving together. I think honestly that TeleTech is doing a fantastic job and our City can be proud and thankful that TT choose Dumaguete for one of their branches. by the way, You have everday the chance to see me, I am roaming through the city daily. I am always happy to meet people and new friends. So if you see me just stop me and say Hi... cheers Rhoody
Hello Rhoody, I am also into diving. But i havent dove for more than a year already. I might be able to dive this september...Do u own a diveshop here?
Thats time to get back in the water again,... I don't own a diveshop, but have access to some shops, where I am freelancing, so that should be not a big problem to get you wet again... Rhoody
To Rhoody It was nice that you wrote something about TT Dumaguete. It gave me a smile when you've complimented on our amenities My favorite part in the area is... The Garden...Smokers area...haha :D By the way, I work for the Chat Support (non-verbal), so I would like to make a little correction on your Philippino...It is spelled as Filipino...and the non-verbal training takes 5 days only for the english stuff training...called ACE (Accent and Conversational English)..I forgot how many weeks were the product training took place..I think it was 3 weeks...That's it...So, our trainings took around a month.. Anyhoo...what was your favorite part in our site? You don't have to adjust on how you talk to the person at the other end of the line...That's our job...and there's nothing we can do about our customers' rants...we just have to be calm...waiting on the line for several minutes to get to a rep is so frustrating..haha...i feel u...when I started working as a rep, I really am so hard to the person entertaining me when I call Globe or Smart's cust support, coz i know what they're doing at the other end...hahaha
Talking about the smokers area, I like the burgers there at that little shop hehe, some of the best cheap burgers in town, Sayang that its not available for outsiders or people without connection. I also like Alex (your boss) when he calls me at 1 am in the morning as he lost track of time with his working hours there... but no problem as I usually also work at night... cheers Rhoody
thanks rhood ! Rhoody, thanks for sharing your field trip. I am so proud for our boys and girls in teletech. I was been talking to them in few occation; phone and electrical bills, credit cards , etc...,they talk sofly and very patient on going through the problems and very well trained that they wont put you on hold often to ask their supervisor, unlike the other country teletech , you can feel they are going through a lot of not so sure answer as they keep you on hold most of the duration of the call to ask their supervisor. the funny thing about the philippines teletech at the end they can't resist in asking if i am a filipina , by my name You guys , keep up the good works and be proud of what you are doing. Most people problems be your great gain of knowledges. Mabuhay !
haha..we all lost track of time...heheh... what do u mean by "Sayang that its not available for outsiders or people without connection."??? They can be bought when you are inside our site...hehhehe
for most outsider its not possible to get inside.. so the option left is knowing the guys who make them... dumaguetenia, I usually ask on the hotlines or live chat's of several companies which country I am in, When I end in the PI I always have some chikka (I know the employees are not allowed to do so) and it's a lot fun
