A colleague of mine is looking for projects that can be funded thru a grant. In order for any project to be considered, the project must have a socio-economic, humanitarian or environmental impact to the place where it will be applied to. The grant is funded by a foreign group, and my consultant colleague recommends approval for the projects here in the Philippines. Grants per approved project ranges from a minimum of US $3M to a max of US$10M. Once approved, the funding will be coursed thru a foundation, not thru an NGO. They have just approved the first batch, mostly projects here in Cebu, and are now accepting projects for the second batch.

The first thing to do is to come up with a project brief so that it can be evaluated. If you know of any deserving project that could benefit our people in Dumaguete/Negros Oriental, let me know please, so I can make the necessary recommendation for inclusion on the 2nd batch.

    Good thing to read Foxylady.
When reading I thought for a moment, maybe we (DI forum) should start a project IMRID "Integrating the Multicultural Residents In Dumaguete" .
With the minimum of 3M US$ we can organize very socio-economic, humanitarian AND environmental 'Getting-Togethers'.
So also locals won't have hesitation to participate.
Any chance it could be approved ? :D

But seriously, it's good to see things like this to support new initiatives for proper development.

Would that also go for R&D on a new patend innovation that may later bring many hundreds of jobs to the PI? Not to say Several hundre million US to be income taxed?
I have such one and have been in talks with management of Schneider Electrics to buy it. (Larger then Siemens group)

If I found a place willing to put down the capital to do the final R&D and start building factories to make it, I would go anywhere in the world.
And 3$ Million US should do for a lot of R&D in the PI.

It is the 3rd generation electrical and communication istallation for homes and light industry. Where we save 72% On installment cost and it will always be the best system around while it will never go out of business.

I was in talks with Lithuania and the prospected sale would be world wide.

    JELLYFISH,
That idea of DI members coming up with a project can work... just factor in the humanitarian, socio economic and or environmental impact that will benefit the locals . You guys come from all parts of the world - mostly from developed countries. The Philippines is still a third world country. Based on your experiences, you know what we still lack and need to do in order to have progress. Initiate a brain storming session with the others and do try to think of a project for your newly found home. I know you can come up with a fantastic one!

Any project that can help the Filipino people socio- economically or environmentally has a big chance of approval. If you have one such project, come up with a proj. brief (just a brief description, etc.), email it to me so I can give it to my colleague. My email addy is clarice_ace@yahoo.co.uk

Yes and a possible large export for the PI balance aswell.
It all depence of what business modell to use, having other manufactoirers do the manufactoring part or start building own facilities. I guess a combination of the two should happen to beginn with.
