its a past-time when its low-tide that people just stroll on the beach collecting shells, checking out starfishes, etc. there's no struggling in that. Your topic is true though, but the picture ain't telling it. Sorry, IMO...

    Cheers!

you are right, during my childhood days I alraedy saw many people during low tide catching fishes and collecting shells ( for eating).

But I heard many bad stories from my contacts and relatives, how hard is the life in Philippines now(maybe for those who have more money is not so affected), prices of commodites doubled and the income no change.Cannot be put in pictures, but its sad alraedy to think.

    true...

life in the PI is geiing even worse....bt still filipinos are quite inovative enough in coping up with the situation.....the rich are getting richer while the poor is slowly sinking at the quick sands of poverty.....poverty has no end not unless all the poor dies......kind of absurd but filipino lifestyle havnt change thats why the root of the problem stil growing.....hope the worst scenario wont happen too soon

Life is increasingly desperate for poor native filipinos. Gas is so high they can't afford to run their bankas, and are going back to rowing their way. Rice is well. we know doubled in price in the last year.

Crime is an increasing threat everywhere. Like it or not, And that will become worse as folks and criminals become more desperate. With the unabated population growth, things look bleak for the vast number of poor folks.

One does not need gas to run a Carabao to plough a rice field.
sorry but your post does not ring true in my eyes.

There's millions of hectares of land available to farm for rice/ corn. the government must help the farmers to work the land. like they do in Europe.

please don,t say the government has no funds for such like and yes its looking very bleak
for the poor Filipinos. I am very sad for them.

sorry... yeah it does'nt really shows on the pic. I agree with that idea that filipinos are really innovative...and life now is sooo..... can't explain how hard it is.. fishing is their only means and can't imagine. but i don't blame anyone, though.

You changed the subject from fishing to farming, not all filipinos have land, many are fishermen, I refered to them in my example. They can not afford gas.

I won't get into the politics of why there are poor here or why the gov doesn't solve everyones problems.
Read the other threads here on rice crisis, which i think explains the situastion from several perspectives quite well.
