⌛ Hello & G'Day

Hello to all,
I visited Dumaguete city during my recent holiday to the Philippines and was quite impressed with the city, its people and the surroundings. I am seriously thinking of moving there to live in the future.
I am keen to get more detailed information about the city from this forum so that I can hopefully make an informed decision.
I am quite keen to hear from foreigners who have moved there to live and their first hand experiences living outside their country. Also, the locals who can identify the best locations in and around the city. I have visited the official Dumaguete city website and it does not provide much detail information. ie. land values, capital growth, rentals, services such as hospitals, utilities, telephone/mobile etc, and general conditions of living there.

You will need to do your homework from a wide variety of sources. It is sometimes harder than it initially might seem.

John boy has already provided you with some good advice on using the various sections of Dumaguete Forum.

It will provide you with the best results to ask specific questions based on the research which you have already conducted. Telling us a little bit more about yourself, your preferences and your likes and dislikes will also help.

Again welcome. As a foreigner who has just recently moved permanently to Dumaguete, I can assure you that you will NOT be disappointed.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm a naturalised Australian married to a Filipino lady. We've lived in Australia for over 25 years and would like to buy some property in Dumaguete (Taclobo) near Foundation University to build some apartments as boarding house/lodging house. Do you know how much property we are allowed to purchase as we are both Australian citizens although my wife was born there? We would like to move in the next two years and perhaps buy a business. I was glad to hear your positive feedback but would like more information to ensure that i would not regret my decision especially that my wife is a bit apprehensive due to the weather, political situation and the cost of living in the Philippines. Looking forward to hearing your feedback.
