    avocado

lynn, coming to dumaguete is not a problem, you got lots of option, the only thing you have to be very sure of is that someone from ABOKADO village school is goin to pick you up(make it sure) in dgte pier or any place inside dgte, avocado lynn is not near dumaguete, heheheh, i know you have already done your research before you volunter for work in Abokado.

just an advice when your there, be friendly on both sides, hehehhehe, the tension right now there is not as good, i know you know that.

    thanks

I knew it was a "no man's land" before, but i thought the situation is a bit better now.... or not??
Can someone give me some more update bus information from cebu to dumaguet? and is it better to have someone meet me at the pier(can bus drop me off at the pier? ) or at the bus terminal??
or if someone knows about avocado, any transport going up there?? that would be even better so i don't need to trouble anyone from the school....
really appreciated if someone can help!

lynn, this is just to give you idea and info for you to be aware, anyway rhoody have already give a good links for the bus, other threads here also discusses alternative route to be here in dgte.

    by the way this is not to scare you, but for you to be well aware and prepared, tension is the place has gone a little high right now due to some "DEVELOPMENTs", unless if your familiar with the place you can go there on your own but if not, then it would be nice someone from the village can pick you up in dgte. but if you wish to go there, you can do the following routes;

    dgte - mabinay - dawis/sto ninyo - abokado
    dgte - sta. catalina - kakha/mantikil - abokado
    dgte - siaton - candugay/balastro - abokado
    dgte - pamplona - santa agueda/sto ninyo - abokado
dgte - zamboangita - tamlang -abokado

I am not so sure if there is a ferry from Cebu city to dumaguete that will take in also vehicles.Last time we drove right down from the city to the southern tip of cebu, reaching the port of Bato, part of Santander town.Don't mistake this of the Liloan small port that has pump boats going for Sibulan nr dumaguete, just perhaps less tha 10 mins running distance from this port to the other port of Bato. This port got barge ferries that'll carry your vehicle across to Tampi Amlan only about 30 mins across and you can head south for Dgte in around 15 mins. There were some pictures posted in this photo board of this crossing if you scroll down a lil' bit and find this thread of Maayo Shipping to cebu island.

    September Trip

    Hi!

I am hoping to travel to Dumagute in September, but could use some advice. I am Scottish (UK) but know Manila well. This will be my first time to leave Luzon though!

I would like to visit cebu, Tagbilaran and Dumaguete. It is cheap to fly cebu pacific to/from Tagbilaran and Cebu, so I was thinking of flying to one adn somehow visiting Dumaguete before flying from the other. I have a week to do it. is this enough time?

Would I be better flying to Cebu and then ferrying to Dumaguete, then ferrying to Tagbilaran to fly back to Manila? Or fly to Tagbilaran then ferry to Dumaguete, then go to cebu? If I dont have time for all three I would sacrifice cebu on this occasion, so how long and expensive id the ferry trip from Tagbilaran to Dumaguete?

Is Dumaguete safe? Earlier this thread mensions tension...

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi Smoth...I think they were referring to Abokado as having high tension, though I honestly had not heard of the place. Dumaguete itself has tended to be quite laid back and very safe. Just take the same precautions you'd take anywhere else. Not sure about prices these days for inter-island travels, but I flew into Cebu and ferried to Dumaguete via Tagbilaran. That was when SuperCat offered the trip for about $17 USD (April 2005). Total travel time from Cebu to Dumaguete was 3.5 hours.

And to gracie...thanks for the note. Sorry, I don't frequent the board as much these days and didn't see it earlier. Funny to see this thread again, though, as some of my first posts were here about 21 months ago
