just to clarify is it ok for people to come who are not retired? people who like the place and want to live there, and feel that they can offer something to everyone? Even if that means bringing tourists who Yabs doesn't like?

    sure we make it worse...
man get a life... most posts here are about problems, so we basically inform people that it is not paradise and in my opinion for sure NOT a retirement heaven.

You are here because you found it like many others, Duma is easy to reach, that is the reason why you found it, and still have NO clue about anything in Duma...

    Yabs Day:

    sleeping until 10 or 11
having breakfast at why not or Mikes dive-shop

    resting

    having dinner at

Casablanca, Why Not or Italia sometimes Hayahay.
    drinking in Why Not...

    in between complaining about

Philippinos, Chinese and americans... next to Spaniards the biggest influence here since a long long time...

All those businesses you support are foreign run (I know, not Hayahay). You are exactly one of those guys who come here but complain about anything local (unless the chicks)
You are stupid enough bringing the Robinson's threads always to the top (thank you for that, safes me a lot of work for those keywords)

You are the guy who needs air-con and all western amenities, complaining about Philippinos in their own Philippines.

You cannot find anything in this lovely country... as your horizon goes from Daro to Why not and the way back.
If you have to walk from your house to Robinson's I am almost sure you will not find it as it is in the south and the center of the Boulevard is the maximum distance you go.

You find your destinations via Internet but blame us to give you the chance to do so.

You complain about fouling the own nest ????? you are exactly that guy doing it with all your support for the western business man... how stupid can somebody be ????

.... man you help to destroy the Environment with your job but that is all OK and good.

If Walt Disney is ever looking for a new Looney Toon I am happy to give him your email address

fools without knowing what they are talking about make me really laugh

Yabs, What are you belly-aching about, you seem to have a very large chip on your shoulder. I am a foreigner & have been here 14 years, at the moment I am bedridden with a heart ailment, but do I moan...No way, Jose. I enjoy life to the fullest extent & keep a smile on my face, I have seen a lot of changes since I arrived here in '94, so grow up & get a life.

I knew about Dumaguete before seeing this website. The site actually helped me to re-live some of the wonderful memories I had during my visit. I'm guessing most people who come to this site are coming via a Google search that involves the word "dumaguete". So, they have likely heard of the place before reaching the site.

I guess I just don't see how this site could have a negative impact on the town, since it's an open forum where people share opinions. Some may not enjoy their Dumaguete visit, but it's useful to understand their perspective.

I mainly come to see the photos here, though

    why should it ????

there are webpages about all destinations already online,

what is the difference if they end up on DI (or one of the other 30 sites of the Danes new project), or on any other page.... ????

As a user I would prefer ending on DI as you have a way better infosource than on a govornment or resort-page. plus the benefit of forums where you can ask questions and read through topics.

You won't see anything negative on the official and resort-sites. Here on DI is (next to your totally stupid unknowledgable posts) a lot of critics about many topics regarding Dumaguete.

You just dont get it... but I really dont expect anything from a narrow minded guy who complains about philippinos being present in their own country...

To answer your question again... No we are not fouling, we inform

The one beneficial bit from this thread is a reality check for foreigners. I know how easy it is to fall under the spell of the Philippines and get your head filled with ideas of the easy life in paradise.
The reality is, if you don't have enough money to live on it's better to wait for your move until you do. Living in the Philippines is great if you have money but far from paradise if you don't.
Enjoy your visit and live the dream for a while but take a long, long, hard look at the reality of living in a developing country before leaving your comfortable Western existence.

Hello Timn8ter, I could not agree with you more!
One thing is to spend a few weeks holiday and another is living in the place.
You'll be surprised to find out how fast so called friends and relatives will disappear once the party is over and the money has run out.
Mind you, this applies all over the world isn't it?
