it will be really interesting to see how this changes the town. there are so many new retailers setting up everwhere, there has to be some business failures, unless business can be diverted from other retail centers like cebu or bocolod or economic growth is spectacular. i know in the west, in some towns / districts the mall killed the mam and pop stores, in others it drew more people to the existing stores
but the long term trend has sadly been to branded goods in branded stores, owned by corporations
i do not know why some people are viewing robinsons as the harbinger of the death keel to dumaguete, it is just a small aspect to the region, just one that will be marketed heavily. you can always go to the volcanoes or the reefs instead of the mall
