What are talking about Yabs? It's obvious you have mistaken me for someone else.
I have been visiting the Phils. since 1975 some 14 times...and love the country and its people.
If I retire to DGTE,you will be the last person I want to meet!

If you want Italian Pizza you go to Italia Restaurant... Mama Marias was ok as I tried it now the second time ands they improved big time, just the unreal loud TV was a bit annoying, it also was a bit cloudy so the electric fans they installed did a good job for the always sweating Rhoody.

One good thing about Dumaguete is that more quality places are opening and everybody, no matter what taste he has, will find a couple of places to have great food.

Tom, you should try the mashed potatoes of my sweet-heart with tons of garlic and chili in it, not eatable for "normal" consumers but unreal for me, and if there is some left over I make some paddies and deep-frie it the next day... awesome, no need for any meat with that, some dark red-wine sauce will do...

    Just what Dumaguete needs

Just some poor imitation of western food by some one that doesn't have any idea of what they are doing, I have tasted better Pizza out of the frozen food section in the supermarket. same old menu as all the other substandard restaurants here. thats why i don't eat out anymore.

Heck, that could be said about a lot of things in the Philippines, 'someone that doesn't have any idea of what they are doing!' Except for corruption! I guess it is like most things, 'practice makes perfect!' Ahh, i am just venting and going on a rant. Anyway, not all of the restaurants are substandard. I think sometimes the food is good but, the service is just horrible. Also, why is it that most waiters hardly ever write down the food that you order with them? Are they trying to save on ink or paper? 9 times out of 10 they get the order wrong and its always late too!

...just saw the following on another board, so I just stole it for DI as it fits to that above:

.......my order is a fish curry.
for once order is delivered reasonably quick at pb (15mns).
after eating a few pieces of the thick fish curry , i realize that the fish curry is fish free .
simply a vegetarian vegetables curry ...

ask a waitress to check there is no fish presence .
take back the plate at the kitchen .
i was confident she would come back saying the usual ' oh sorry , they forgot the fish ...'.
after 5mns of negociations with the kitchen staff , waitress finally comes back and says ' sorry , they did not put fish because it was overcooked ...'.

    and another one:

    Me: "Where's my buttered corn?"
Waitress: "Oh sorry, we out of corn."
Me: "Then why did you charge me for corn?"
    Waitress: "You ordered corn, no?"

That corn one was funny! I wonder sometimes when these kinds of bizarre things happen to me if I am on someone's hidden camera show!

Like the time I was at that internet place along the blvd and I was trying to renew the internet and the lady behind the counter went into a useless diatribe and complete character assassination of my landlord for 10 minutes. At the end of this slanderous crap, this lady tells me that they no longer service that area! I asked why she could not have told me this in the beginning and why did she have to tell me all this crap about my landlord? CRAZY! I remember looking at my wife and we just laughed on our way out of the internet providers office.
