What has happened to Earlmj and his building project? Those that have already built in Dumaguete is there an established local contractor, or do they come from Cubu or somewhere else? I see recommendations about generators and solar panels but are all these items available or are these things best purchased abroad and then shipped in. That is another question, are there any americans or North Americans there who have shipped household goods by container and who did you use?

there is btw also something on bamboo in the link I posted in the garden thread (how to set up a plantagion and how to set up an impregnation system)

yes I have seen the thing about bamboo re-enforced concrete, there is a whole thing about tsunami victim housing in indonesia about bamboo with plaster. But I also read somewhere that the bamboo in concrete was researched but the problem was that bamboo absorbs water and that makes it not so great for concrete work.

I suspected that would be an issue. Thanks for your input.
I'll stick with the idea of a steel reinforced concrete main house and bahay kubos additions.

I did not read that whole eco housing document, I posted, yet and I should have warned about the the size.

Liked the house you posted Timn8ter also typhoon proof.

Besides a bamboo house might be a solution to the land lease and devorce situations.

at least you will be able to safe your house, the problems with land deeds must be an ancient tradition  Sort of a semi-mobile home concept.

I am looking at some property outside of the Dumaguete. not right on the beach but back in the wooded area and it is level. I want a 3 bedroom home with garage. Do you have building plans and a rough estimate what the cost would be. An average 3 bed room home for 2 adults with lots of view of course cool. Please contact me at dragonheart1855@aol.com I hope that I am understanding all this correctly that you are a contractor who builds.
