Hi JoyJoy! While you're there, you might want to try the Sylvannas at the SansRival bakeshop near the main boulevard. You could also try the street/hawker food near the corner of the boulevard and the university, they only come out after the sun sets, but the ambiance is totally local and eating with the fingers is always nice  We went up the eco-mountain towards the falls but never got to see it, we got sidetracked by a mountain resort with the fresh water stream and it was so peaceful up there.

Again you seem to grasp everything out of context and then twist it to your twisted world of whats right and wrong...

You left out one very important word here:

    NEVER GIVE MONEY TO STREETKIDS

To provide medical care for a child in need is something I think everybody would be for(well except you Yabs), the kids on the street can't really be faulted for being born into the situation they are in, and to say they should suffer needlessly because of lack of basic medical care is neither humane nor something I would support.

Yabs, you are blessed by birth coming from a 1st world country, so I do not understand how you can condemn kids born under less favorable conditions than you. Sure they are annoying on the streets and this is hopefully only the first step in cleaning these kids up, but to say we should not help kids with basic medical care is just outrageous.

I am also engaged in another charity up here in Angeles, it's called the Bahay Bata Center, a place where they offer the kids a place to stay, 3 square meals a day, a school, clothing, medical etc. etc. - link: Bahay Bata Centre for street kids, Angeles City, Philippines

This center cost a fortune to run, but is run on donations from Rotary members and expats / tourists / locals in the area here. I visit to the center here should be on every visitors list, as it is an absolute blessing to see how these boys are well mannered and well taken care of.

Something like this would be ideal in Dumaguete, but you gotta crawl before you can walk and having a selfish rich 1st world kid talk sh*t about a charity project is not a step in the right direction. To set something like that up you need unity, help and charitable people...

Anyways, I am not surprised by this drivel, it is very much in tune with your regular broken record: "don't help the Philippines change and improve their status with more tourism, I want to see all the locals run around in grass skirts and coconut bras because that is what I(center of the universe) prefer"

I sat next to Yabs on my flight back from Dumaguete the other day, we had a chance to talk about some of these issues and it is very clear we will never agree on basically anything... well except that beer is good...
