Actually, what i am trying to tell here is that a foreigner can only own a max of 40% of that property and 60% is for the filipino... it seems the topic is just going topsyturvy with the same thoughts.
    Read and understood the situation.
that's why i said read more about the law of the Philippines; every country has its own law.
    use your senses...

You are absolutely correct. This subject always goes topsyturvy because there is always people who think they have found a way around this law. However, there IS no way around this law, but convincing some of them that this is the case is impossible.

I have thought about buying land and property here but the present law turns such an investment off. In any case I prefere renting as this means I can move on to other beautiful Islands when I so wish when I am bored with this place.

For me dumaguete is a nice place to stay with or without a family, peaceful, and not really a boring type of place.
Well, yah its your choice if u have to rent or build your own. If you have to think it over, you will rent for how many years there and try to add your rental payment ...-ofcourse you have to pay other bills aside from the house, just think which way you can save. i think you could say it's better i have to build...specially if your wife is a filipina and a native of dumaguete she we will really like it there.
