    As I heard it

As I told about it from a friend of mine it routinely happened in Hong Kong. It happened to him with his girlfriend he was waiting for her in the luggage area her bags where there but she wasn’t he waited for hours but nothing. He asked the airlines they told him after a while what happened and said it happened all the time. Later he caught up with her in manila. She told him what happened and now I telling you.

    here is another perspective
1.) re the work conditions abroad - a woman in my neighbourhood in cambodia worked in the garment industry in san francisco, she was recruited and flown in from cambodia. her passport was confiscated on arrival she worked 15 hour days, 7 days a week, slept in a 3th world style dormitory, never allowed leave the factory. never received a monthly stipend for the 2 year contract.

    what was the result?

she loved it, she got $2000 cash as she was driven to the airport (her second sight of the usa). that would be 2 cents an hour plus 3th world level accomodation and food. her words "best thing i ever did"

2.) read sex slaves by louise brown, for an insight into why immigration should be much stricter in developed asian countries, the philippines being a crystal meth production center in another reason

Haha, short but feisty? I think you need to change your username.

Teacher, I do think it's funny that you say that we have to watch our girlfriends because of course all our girlfriends are young Filipina's. :p

Its a bit sad, the British built them an airport and a bridge before handing over Hong Kong to the Chinese, there's gratitude for you. I got the Shiite treatment.

My income tax, so that's were it ended up.

Though its not usually the case, I believe the reason for this is base on drug related cases. I've read in internet News articles of innocent/unaware filipino domestic helpers being used by drug syndicates as carriers of illegal drugs. They befriend this women and ask them to bring a package to their friend who would be waiting for them in HK. As a result HK security singled out filipina domestic helpers as possible drug carriers.

    Strange

very strange that so many think this is some kind of a joke. That I find this funny. I just told you what I was told because I honestly care. Even here in Taiwan I had so many problems just trying to get my wife here and her ARC. After I had to send her back to the Philippines twice for documents before I could get her an ARC. In Manila before she could even get her Visa they ran her around for months asking for documents. They even sent her to American Embassy to have our papers checked and stamped which the America Embassy doesn't do because she wasn't going to America. And Now Many of The OFW's are being sent home from Taiwan factories are closing no work things are looking dreadful.

sometimes you got the choice to cry or laugh, I got some experiance with paper 'problems', immigration officers and the like. And it is an humiliating experiance, I think though that all states are at fault and not just Honk Kong.

The position of many Filipino workers abroad is a disgrace, no rights, no support of their goverment (who clearly think the money they bring in is more important than their citizens rights).

This economic crisis could hit the Filipines hard, contract workers abroad might be the first to be laid off.
