⌛ Good day to you all

Hello there People.

I Am Stefan A swedish Man 48 finding this place googling for houses to rent in Negros Oriental.

I am planning to relocate to the philippines at the beginning of 2009 and are looking around for a place to rent for longterm living in the Phils.

Nice also to get to know some people both men and womans since moving to a new country could be quite lonely at the start before you get any friends.

I am a retiered Electrical technician.. currently working as a teacher to electricians school. I am also teaching in workers safety and Sex and family planning. I will perhaps continue to teach in the philippines but not on full time since I am retiered.

If anyone want to know me more just drop a line. If you have a property to Sell or rent I might be interested. I prefer inexpensive and modest living and here in Sweden my house is in the countryside and I am looking for a nice restful place to live in.

as for a place to rent i'm sure there's plenty, but i was in rented b4, and can recommend the person i rented from. (5.5kPHP/month) bring terminal block (choc block) i can't find it here, they just twist the wires!!!!!!!

 

Well I have classes in Workers safety and Electrical safety but also in
Sexeducation and family planning. In ordinary school kids have sexeducation from grade 6 here in Sweden. But my classes are for adult non swedish people that for some reasons ended up here in Sweden either as refugee's or immigrants. I guess that some of my teaching could be of use also in the philippines. I understand that Sexeducation is a "flamable" subject in many places in the filippines due to the strong catholic lifestyle. So I guess I won't be doing alot of that kind of teaching. Still I think that it would be needed to fight Aids and unwanted pregnancy all over the world.

Welcome to dumagueteinfo! You have to visit and feel if dgte is the place to wind up. renting an apartment is the best option to start with.

I bid you welcome Stefan as we are colleagues of a sort. You will enjoy your life in the Philippines. Most of the Expats are very willing to extend a hand. The best forum members locally in Dumaguete are Coyotes, Rhoody and of course Jellyfish.

 

It's best come and see, stay in an affordable hotel or pension house (small cheap boarding house). Rent a motor bike, visit the bolavard your soon make friends there there are some of your countrymen here.

I have just moved, found a place thats quieter than the last one. It took a couple of days to find. Don't expect the ritz if your after the affordable but you can find slightly rundown apartments and houses that are westernised enough to suit ones living standards.

Its best to send a filipino friend or partner to negociate rent if you show your white face the rent can jump up considerably sometimes but thats not always the case as I found my own and only 2 out of 8 owners houses I looked at bumped up the rent.

You can get a nice acceptable place 7K to 10K Peso's normally but if you expect a swimming pool your looking at much more. Beach houses are hard to come by I have been looking but not found a suitable one yet.

Best of luck and I know you will enjoy Dumaguete its a nice place and most people are very friendly. Take your time and get street wise by asking questions at the Bolavard where there are some nice bars to get aquanted with expats from the US and Europe etc.
