    Yes, you are being scammed.

I've lived in the Philippines going on five years. I have met and seen many Filipinas working the foreigners for money. I've watched boyfriends tell them what to say. I've seen as many as 5 cam shots of different guys talking to one girl. I know personally one that bilked a 75 year old guy out of $1000 for an annulment and then dumped him. I know of one that married a guy who is still in the US. She receives money from him and enough cash to buy a house, yet she tricked a friend of mine into going to her location to get married.

If any Filipina you have only met on the internet asks you for anything, you should be suspicious. If you keep this attitude, you'll eventually find a good one.

bobdobbs better to live here than hanging on the internet,,theres nothing serious to be scaried exploring here, You have fellow foreigners who are already in here that you can go explore with for a start, their advise are true,,just take note of which thing to avoid, every place has it own anyway. The way I see filipina's chatting on the net,as a local on my observations for 3 years + of running a mini internet shop, classifications are mixed, some chat for money, and some chat for real life settlement. But The Dude was right, Better come and get here and met people face to face. Good Luck

    Wow Bob

Looks like everyone wants to get a piece of you. If you only got a week you might as well stay home .You need 1-3 months before you can figure out what you want and where you want it. If you only got a week and you like the ladyboys try Thailand and enjoy a weeks vacation Mate Dont waste your time to buy a place here

Okay, then riddle me this: Is it true, as I've read, that filipinos in general, genuinely like americans (in general)? As opposed to the Thais, who smile at you, but secretly want you out of their country ASAP?

I'm not just talking about those after your money, male/female/whatever. But filipinos in general.

Bob generally what you are saying is true. But like they say, "the proof is in the pudding." There are tons of guys who like Thailand. Only you can decide for yourself.

The reason to live in the Philippines and not in Thailand is simply that we need a country where we can go for our vacation... hehe
