I know this is strange for me to ask after living in Philippines for five years. But I never did much about it I just stayed using a balikbayan being married to a Filipina. My wife and I are now living in Taiwan. But now when we go back I want to be a resident what do I have to do? what can we ship back with us are there limits? or is better not to bring anything. what do my fellow forum members know?
The 13A Resident visa. This seems very easy. But is it really? anyone know? Bureau of Immigration, Philippines - IMMIGRANTS
You have the right place to commence your search. If you look down deeply into the web site you will find better sources of information than most of here can offer. This web site is NOT readily transparent. I think I found my own answers, in desperation, by drilling down through the news releases, of all places. You will find a "1-800" style number in Manila, which is answered 24/7 and will give you a speedy reply. There is also a Q & A specific web address, which will answer your questions directly. At least by using this latter service you will receive a written reply from the Bureau's HQ, which could be subsequently quoted with some authority. You probably know already that you will need complete and certified documentation from the National Statistics Office on your marriage. Start with this so that it is in place when you are ready to proceed further. I am also in the process of applying for a 13A visa. This application can be processed in Cebu as well as in Manila. A note of caution and please read this carefully: I have less than complete confidence in the Dumaguete field office. I won't say more in a public forum, so please contact me privately, if you feel the need. Customs duties is another matter and I have written on this already. Your household goods are subject to duty of 30% and VAT of 12% on top of that. Your spouse may enjoy more flexibility - I do not know. To put it mildly and gently a certain flexibility can / will be demonstrated for a consideration on your part, m'entiende? I'm certain that others will contribute more and I'll follow this thread with interest. Good luck!
I've been told, many many times...(and Teacher being in-country can't take advantage of this unfortunately)...DO your 13A application thru your Philippines embassy BEFORE you come....It's far cheaper and far quicker than doing it while in the Philippines. So anyone considering a 13A....get it before you arrive....
Thanks guys Sorry garbonzo but at the monent i am working in Taiwan. But still have a problem there is no philippine consulate here. davfitzI have NO confidence in the Cebu field office. I know them very well you will get nothing unless you pay them off. (I know one officer that drives a new BMW 700 series you think he can do that on what PI pays?)The Best thing from what I heard was deal only with IB Manila when it comes to your issues. I know as far as my wife goes if they know their is a foreigner she will get no mercy. But thanks so much for your help
