Just wondrin' what's the real score here regarding the death of a German national in one of the popular hotel in Dumaguete. The PNP called it suicide even without a complete investigation. I found a post in Negros Chronicle from a guest stating he was with this guy prior to his death. Here it is: " This hole situation with the German really smells bad I agree that there is crime in every city all around the world but in most places there is a the row investigation don’t believe there was any investigation in this case and I have very good reason for my opinion I know the time table mentioned in this article is wrong because I was staying in the next room at the time and I talked to this fellow on the afternoon of the 25th and I know hotel staff seen him on the 25th because he requested fresh towels from house keeping while we sat together on the third floor balcony between his room and mine I also seen what I thot was blood on that balcony on the afternoon of the 26th and when I pointed it out to my lady friend she dismissed it as a spilt drink so we thot no more about it till I learned of hid death after o got back to Canada the fact that no police agency contacted me indicates there was little if any investigation if there was I
am sure the police would contact the people in the next room this really stinks I understand now why my lady friend is so nervous every time I visit Phil and I really doubt any person committing suicide would go on a walk about of the third floor after cutting him self I accept there is risk involved with traveling but I cant accept the thot that if I am killed there wont even be a throw investigation ill never return to Phil and can only say shame on the dumaguete police because it seems they are more interested in not scaring away the tourist than they are in investigating a real tragedy"

Well, there is always Thailand. They have in place one of the best sunami warning systems in Asia, but when a sunami is coming they refuse to use it as it may scare away the tourists!

Welcome to the Philippines, and/or Asia. It's true enough that the police here have little actual training in forensics and investigative proceedures, and if they did would have too little resources to implement a thorough investigation anyway. But I think you will find this true in most any third world country.

However, given the choice of how things work overall, give me the Philippines over US or Canada any time.

    OFF TOPIC:
Ouch! Don't think the "treehugging, dirt eating druids" allow us to use that sort expression anymore. "Developing nation" is the correct label nowadays, isn't it?!:D
    ON TOPIC:
I heard (from 'supposedly informed' sources), that he also suffered a stab wound in the chest, anyone know the real truth?

LOL. Well, if that is the case, "developing WHAT?" would be my next question!

The whole truth is, it is likely nobody will ever know the truth.

As long as the local Police do the best they can with what resources they do have then I have to be ok with it. I understand financial limitations and how they can affect a job-well-done. I'm with you Larry, I love the Philippines!

If you didn't you'd leave, obviously, (as has been said previously, by many), you always have a choice.......:D

Just wondrin' what the German community says about this? How about that Rhoody? Did your government verify this or did they do their own investigation since the victim is a German national? I know for sure that if this is an American..the FBI will be pressuring the local police to investigate further.

    ?????????

The FBI has absolutely no jurisdiction or interest in anything that happens in the Philippines, or anywhere outside of US territories. The EMBASSY may ask some questions, but even that is highly doubtful, they pretty much take the word of the local authorities on such matters.

you must be joking, the FBI does absolute nothin if an american got killed or shoot at.

What does the German community say ? I have no Idea and I am totally not interested in any kind of rumors. I won't believe a blood-soaked newspaper and I won't belive guys who lives in a Hotel room next to the victim, don't talk to the police but talk crap afterwards on a public board.
