... to throw stones from the backyard towards the gate instead of giving candies and Peso ?

... to tell Kids to forget about Santa delivering presents as he only comes through the chimney ...which are fairly rare in the PI ?

... to play Black Sabbath on the stereo louder than everybody can sing ?

... to stick fire-crackers int to the resonance-hole of guitars?

... to put a sign up: " I am Atheist - F@#$ off !!! " ?

... smear Candies into Santa Clause beards ?

... to explain kids the similarity between Santa and Michal Jackson and be serious concerned about both having young Kids on their laps ???

Sometimes I also wonder why our Filipino muslim brothers don't come around 'demanding money' on occasions like Eid. (Too much self respect maybe? ).

 

Sure it's legal... for the right number of pesos.

Where should I send my payment? I think we should make a fund.

 

Is giving candies and pesos to strangers at Xmas normal here??? I thought that was the deal for Halloween... but it turns out that's not the case... so I was stuck eating bags of candy while they visited the cemetery...

I need a written guide to holidays and fiestas in the Philippines... Then maybe Rhoody can tell me what behavior will be considered illegal at which events. :D

What's customary is to give money to strangers if they sing christmas carol in your doorsteps or in front of your gate. For halloween the locals don't trick or treats but you can find them partying at the cemetary. For Fiesta just bring a huge appetite. It will make the host happy!

 

that's exactly what 99,5% don't do... hammering with tools against something and making noise while shouting some not understandable words is not considered as singing...

If anybody opens a market Like the guys in "Life of Brain" could make a fortune ...

ooops! some people came to our gate and sang last night... i didn't know i was suppose to give them money, so i just said "thank you" and then they said "thank you" and then they left. how much money are you suppose to give them? now i feel bad.

You can give them P5 up to whatever amount you want, depends on your christmas spirit. Also, based your donation as how many of them in the group singing and the quality of their performance. Happy Holiday to you and your Family.
