Great tips here! TheDude, what is BDO? Is that a bank, do they have branches?

Stefan, yeah, we have that too in Germany. Problem is, I have to go there in person to open an account. Even the internet banks want you to ID yourself at least at an local Post Office. Last time I was there is like 4 years ago and I de-registered my residency, so it would be a problem for me. Also it just wouldn't make sense economically right now to fly over.

The big international banks offer something similar as well, I just don't know, if they have HSBC, Citibank, ING, ABN Amro or similar in Dumaguete. Probably in Cebu. For sure I don't want to carry around large amounts of money.

Some Singapore banks offer similar services with their partner banks. Like DBS has BPI as their partner bank, so there should be no or reduced fees, will have to check that out in more detail....

Pedro - Uncle Sam's Yacht Club? Sounds like fun!? It isn't something military like the Navy, no? Only time I was on a Yacht it was quite some fun....although when the sea is choppy.......ahem.....

I'm not sure the Ica Bank have that.. Think that IKEA Bank (Yes IKEA have banking in sweden and probably in other countries as well). ICA is a major food chain here and to win customers they offer a Mastercharge connected card to their bank accounts where there is no charges for withdrawal in any country you visit. Im moving to dumaguete in April/may this year and will have my ICA MC card with me for easy transport of money. (Will bring a backup visa also just in case of something to happend.

    It's Banco De Oro

    Welcome to Banco De Oro

They have a branch in Dumaguete, which is all I really care about. The other banks can probably do the same thing though.
