What would be a decent beach for swimming near Dumaguete? I understand that the sand isn't white here but sort of greyish volcanic, which is okay with me.

How about the water, is there some swimming place with few currents, but some waves, no sea urchins and without jellyfish? Not too rocky and without sewage going in or too much dirt in the water.

I love the ocean and need my daily dip with a swim. Can I find any beaches coming close to the description above near Dumaguete? If yes, which direction?

More to the North? Or near the Valencia area or do I have to drive all the way to Zamboanguita?

Can someone also please give an estimation on how fast I can drive (with a scooter bike) from Dumaguete to Bacong, Dauin, Zamboanguita?

    Thanks a million!

Thank you, jimeve. And where would you recommend going for a swim?

Dauin for swimming, snorkling and diving. with the shape of the coastline there you always have one side of the bay protected

Dauin as Rhoody says, but don't expect the beaches around Dauin be anything
    as good as Goa.

Okay, up to 30 minutes should be okay. We love to drive around anyway, so that should be fine. I don't have high demands beach-wise, as long the water is clean and there are no currents, I'm almost happy!

How about Bacong as a living area? Is that a good area to rent a small apartment? Do they have more brown-outs than Duma-city, serious water problems, or is it quite comfortable living there? ;-)

    Thanks a lot!

Ah, just saw the photos in your link only now. Thanks, Rhoody! The beach looks okay, although quite some rubbish. As long it's only leaves or wood, but no plastic or plenty of other garbage, it will be fine with us.

It is a natural beach and you will find some plastic. There are also rivers coming in in that area, so after some rain they also may wash some garbage into the ocean. But in general it is clean

You can also view the tantalizing garden eels at the sandy bottom!
