    Another spam or scam?

Forgive this sharing but I thought that the best place for it is this section for expats.

The item below was simply highlighted from an email from whoever, copied and pasted for your enjoyment or whatever. This is too good to be true  and that if it were true, I would use the money to establish a university in Amlan and also Sibulan and San Jose so they can all move up.:D

Oh well. I am almost certain that I will get a bashing  from some due to this "misplaced" posting... or whatever. My profuse apologies.:(

AAR, enjoy. Does anyone know this SMITH WALTERS? I'd like to see his "Driven License"

    Thanks for your patience.

    old swindle

I am astounded that this old swindle even now is roaming around the Internet. Some much of it is erroneous and the best part was the private e-mail address not an official e-mail address. I think the only person that would be taken by this is a person that is so materialistic or covetous they are blind its inaccuracies.

Hey that's great, just got a mail in my inbox:

The daughter of the ex-dictator of Burkina Faso wants to share 175 Million US-Dollar with me. She just needed my credit-card number and my bank-account. Being a nice guy I did both.

a print-out of the email from the daughter of the ex-dictator of Burkina Faso was also enough for a local bank in Dumaguete to give me enough Peso to buy a overpriced House and Lot in Valencia...

On top I gave her Frankos email-address that his computer-club members can become milionairs like I am now already.

See you for some cold ones on my new purchased 90ft yacht...

    Rhoody

PS: Mam A, I still will keep the Villa Alegre house...

depending if you mean buy or rent.. Dumaguete is other than a bit more developed regions in the PI a couple of years behind (thats why it fits me...) If you have time you can find some raw Jewels. The normal rule in Dumaguete is that houses get more expensive as you as a longnose must have a lot of money.

It may take a couple of years that the news come to Duma about the weak dollar and other economical problems in the rest of the world.

For renting a place it is a bit different and depending what standard you want and what season it is you can make some good deals.

Thank you Rhoody, sounds you are alraedy and expert there. What I mean the price of the house that is for sale.(not so sure anymore on buying)

Actually ,I'm reading more very worthful informations here and I think I see it that renteng is more acceptable and maybe more trouble free .As I read to some postings here, not so safe for us (the foreigner) to buy properties ,sounds so scary for me if I lost big money for nonsense quarelling with woman there. This is still a long plan for me, it takes more more time, before I will decide if I will really settle there or not. I'm also lucky that my girlfriend is not yet also interested so much into marrying .
I don't like to jump easily this kind of adventure.I'm still gathering more informations in this forum.I'm very thankful also that I read here not only good experiences but bad experiences there. It can educate to the new one.

Yeah, there are quite some stories, advices and opinions in almost 30.000 posts. I try to give you my opinion for several solutions.

One thing you can be sure, that you as a foreigner never ever will own any land as a private person (and no need to talk about all that "what if-stuff). For each exception is another exception and your lawyer will find an exception for this ...

Buy or not to buy, that is the question.

Case 1: you are 60 + and it's foreseeable that you are 6 feet under in the next 5-10 years. Buy , be happy with young wife, kids, family, garden and dog...

Case 2: your 60+, filthy rich and in good shape, Buy bigger one with many rooms and young female employees fitting into your food chain, max contract of each employee 6 month, don't get married and enjoy life. Take the top three once a year to Boracay and go alone to several locations around Asia and enjoy the different culture (like temple, landscapes and old buildings of course)

Case 3: your 40-50+, rent first you have a looooong time to find out if this is the right place for you. Watch the development of the area a few years before you decide. There are too many exactly in that age here who bought property after a few weeks or 2 vacations here, just because the wife said "it's so nice and cheap" and the "engineer"-cousin (replaceable by other "important" titles) verifies it...

Case 4: your 30-50, hell-no, no way to buy anything, the next lovely Island is only a container-load away and you did not even make it half of your lifetime in your own country without getting unhappy with that place....

Case 5: 30+ and filthy rich... to be dealt with like case 2 just more extreme...

there are Millions of other cases and for sure plenty of other examples of Happy Buyers, Investors, rich and poor andandand.

    That's a great job Rhoody....

That was a great opinion and very true. I think I was in case 3. along with the many others as you mentioned. Yes, Think long and hard before you buy land that is in your wife's name. Because it is never really your land. The trust in your Partner has to be absolute.

You listen to Rhoody, very true.I'm one of the victims (land trouble).Other lessons, look if the woman has a good job ,means she knows how to earn money .Look also the
family background of the woman. If the members of the family are jobless, they are looking a foreigner that can feed them.If you marry a filipina, you marry also her family..Lastly, don't buy properties!
