This is a repost of my general chat "welcome post". I just figured I would put it here since it is more of a binch of questions and a very little introduction.. Thanks for this lovely forum!

    Hi!

I am an American. My fiancee, her mother and I will be flying into Dumaguete on a Monday, and leaving on a Saturday. We have some ideas of what to do, but would sure appreciate any more input from experts in this area. I will be posting the same topic in the Dumaguete city forum, if that is OK.

    So far we have:

    check out the city?
    malibay wednesday market?
    Siquijor?
    Silliman / old colonial areas?
    bohol?
    bethel guest house?
    ferries?

We are looking to plan an itinerary that would get us out and around the area, see and enjoy what should be seen and enjoyed by people that don't have a lot of extra time, but don't want to be overly rushed either.. Should we secure transportation or can we wing it on trikes and jeeps?

The MIL speaks tagalog and visayan if that helps or matters at all. We don't. (well, a little tagalog and illocano)

We like all kinds of foods, drinks (cold beer a HUGE plus) So we don't want to miss out on the best of anything. By best, I mean best, not necessarily most expensive. We would like to experience more native offerings, as we have lived in the Philippines for a while now, and are new to this area.

We wont be bringing our diving equipment, so we are probably going to scratch that if it helps to narrow down the field.

Thanks very much in advance. Looks like a great part of the Philippines, and we can't wait to go. We will be there next month...

welcome to the site, your itinerary looks ok, although depends how long your staying for, cold beer shouldn't be a problem in most places, many would disagree with me lol

lol BETHAL? you gotta be joking? if you drink or smoke....that is not the place to go, just search "Bethal" on this forum!

have a good stay while your here

thanks for the heads up on bethal. It was well reviewed somewhere and looked like a good value, but not at the expense of fun...

Although, as I look further, besides the fact that there is no drinking and smoking (smoking is no problem for us), the place gets reviewed pretty well even around here. In all honesty, I am usually licking my wounds by the time I crawl back to my hotel room, and usually the last thing I want is ANOTHER DRINK. (Well, perhaps at least until a few minutes after I leave the hotel for the day)...

Anyways, if people have any suggestions or other comments, have at it!

Also, I should mention that my "introduction thread" in the general section was deleted, though it is essentially the same as this thread. Hope no one thinks I am the type to come on without an introduction...
