I've been to Florentina but never stayed there. It is a nice place and would be good for a family or longer stay. The customers were mostly germans. It is a fair way out of town and not ideal for a short-term stay. I recommend you stay somewhere closer to the boulevard. The Bethel is a perfect location but not very tolerant about bringing visitors to your room. Hotel Palwa is a nice friendly place in the centre of town and about 3 blocks from the boulevard. Rooms are very clean and the service is good. I stayed there with my wife and two adult sized kids for around 1000p

Thanks for the information, I have decided to take most folks advice and will stay at Hotel Palwa. I contacted them and it seems as though they will have a room available when I plan on staying, still need to hammer out the dates.

Now I just need to figure out how to do some fishing and where to spend my time.

The coffee shop at Palwa had enough beer to keep me and another Australian going till closing time. Would have been a few gallons and they kept it coming. LIked it at Palwa. Location was good, nearly everything within walking range. For things to do...Forest Camp, a little bit out of Valencia, was worth a couple hours. Nice place and they didn't charge us anything to enter...

You got to know where to look and be there at the right time, I have pictures of girls dancing on the bar at Why Nots Disco and of course the wonders of the girlie bars on the national highway near the airport (not my cup of tea) I keep on kidding my partner I will go and seek the pleasures as the places are just a short walk away from where I live. lol

There are some other places however I am sworn to keep the secret as the places are to small for large crowds, lol. One can dance in Happy Freda, however there are often jigs at Sibulan Basket ball pitch to include battles of the band and bisrock of which I am addicted too.

But all in all Dumaguete City is pretty boring for a young guy interested in heavy music and the rap scene. In fact its a place to guzzle beer drink coffee and read the paper that's why the old guys love the place they can park their walking sticks an zimmer frames sit down talk and look through the constant flow of bottles of beer. (I am getting cynic now I don't drink, lol).

Great info guys. I will do a couple days in AC before I get to Dumaguete, so I should have the loud music and eye candy out of my system and will be ready to just relax and take things in.

I plan to see as much as I can while there, so I don't plan on being bored. As long as the beer is cold, I can pretty much enjoy myself anywhere.

I just wanted to say thanks to all the folks that have given me advice on where to stay/what to do. I'm booked at the Palwa from 7-12 March. I'm sure I will have a few more questions, but feel better prepared thanks to DI.
