Which club made the invitation Rhoody?

By the way, any idea if these bikes are owned by locals(from Dumaguete) or from other cities?

    Big Bikes In Negros Oriental

JUST WANTED TO SHARE THIS ARTICLE TO GIVE READERS AN INSIGHT ON WHAT THE REAL PURPOSE WAS FOR THE BIKE RUN! ;-)

    //////////////////////////

Bikers’ group to donate school supplies to 2,000 day care children in Neg. Or.

DUMAGUETE CITY, Feb. 19 (PNA) -- Around two thousand day care children of Bayawan City in Negros Oriental will receive free school supplies from the Oriental Gentle Bikers Unlimited (UGBO) during its annual Ride for Children 2009 program.

The Ride for Children is a project of members of UGBO, who are big bike enthusiasts.

The group is headed by Rep. Henry Pryde Teves (3rd district, Neg. Or.) and Bayawan City Councilor Mark Dan Aurelia.

UGBO is a member of the Motorcycles Federation of the Philippines (MFP).

Some 200 big bike riders from different parts of the country will be joining the Ride for Children that will be held on Saturday.

Aurelia said the members of the Big Bike riders will drive from Dumaguete to Barangay Kalumboyan in Bayawan City and make a stop over at the city’s Integrated Bus Terminal.

Aurelia said they are hoping that through the program, more children will be encouraged to enroll in school by the opening of classes in June.

He said some parents are hesitant in sending their children to school due to financial constraints.

Free school supplies to be given to the day care children include a set of notebooks, pencils, crayons and school bags.

The Ride for Children project has an annual budget of P150 thousand for the purchase of school supplies from Rep. Teves.

Earlier, Rep. Teves emphasized the importance of education for pre-school children in preparation for the elementary level.

The group has also pledged to donate playground equipment to Barangay Buyco and Tinago in Bayawan City sometime this year.

The Ride for Children was formally launched in 2007 with Bayawan City chosen as a pilot area due to its large population of pre-school children. (PNA) jfp/MA

It was nice to Dumaguete alive with bikes once again. I was here for the previous Poker Runs back in 2001 & 2002 - you almost think it can happen every weekend..

I bumped into an old friend who bought my XT600 5yrs ago, guess he's traded it for a VMax himself..

It was also nice to see John Domingo again and have a few words with him. Last time I saw him was at the last Poker Run in 2002 on his Wide Glide. We first met him in an offical capacity as we applied for permission to marry back in 2001..

Love that HD #3 down from the top.... Very classy.

What a great bike run, and what a great reason to do it!

    Cheers!
