I read this kind of prices about several beautiful areas in the Philippines, including Panglao in one of the Yahoo groups. My suggestion is always to take your time, find out who is the real owner, whats going on in the neighborhood and and and. The only way to do that (IMHO) is living somewhere for a while and observing the situation. There are plenty of other threads on DI about buying properties with good opinions. Go through it ans read also between the lines...

    Offering Help

    Gass,

I understand your concern and after reading my post 3x over.... it did sound a little bit creepy, huh? hahaha! But my story is no secret, I just wanted to offer help to a fellow Filipino who is in the same situation that I was a year ago when I started.

I would love to share my experience so everyone can benefit from what I've learned in the past 12 months or so... I hope DI will not mind me posting all these - with 2 roundtrips to PI, several property negotiations (only 1 realized, of course) and probably 50+ people (from the public and private sector) who tried to rip us off (or tried to pull a trick on each other), blah, blah, blah.

It's a long story, but truly a learning experience for me. For a start. DUE DILIGENCE is key! And rhyss25, you are on the right track, by asking people's opinion here in DI. This is where I learned some of the tips as well. CHEERS to everyone responsible for this forum...

In a few days or so, I will start my post.. I just need to organize my thoughts -- in between the happy things going on here in the GREAT U.S. of A! sssshhhh -- Calm down guys, the last line was supposed to be a sarcastic tone....

    Cheers to everyone!

    hi,

dumaguete is usually your natural access point to siquijor. if you are really that fascinated with and intend to buy a beach lot in siquijor, it might be nice to also consider owning a small rendezvous place here in dumaguete. why? because when you go out of siquijor, the first thing that comes to mind is a trip across the channel to dumaguete. perhaps stay here for a night or longer. dgte is a take off point to the rest of the world. in fact, siquijor was once a sub province of negros oriental. i saw some businesses in siquijor buy their supplies here in dumaguete. just an idea.
