Having visited DGTE some four times on vacation,Sitting on the BLVD,I noticed that there are no sea birds.
Even last year I stayed at Subic bay,on the beach and it was the same.Except I spotted two sea eagles doing circles high up.
As Prof.Julius Sumner Miller would say.."Why is it so"?

you mean to say it is a pure safety issue that that the "walking-speed" of the local population could be considered as "slow standing" ???

Funny, I had not even considered the dearth of sea birds until you mentioned it. Thanks.

During the course of my former life in Canada, the increase of sea and shore birds in places where they did not really belong was quite staggering.

Gulls of various forms live all over and I never particularly liked it. Thanks for pointing out their absence here.

Wild geese and ducks, protected by a very strong multi-lateral convention on migratory waterfowl (primarily USA, Canada & Mexico) have increased to the point where they are not as "wild" as formerly. Many have given up on migrating and share our green spaces year-around.

    "Food Glorious Food..."

And ...the absence of food may be the cause. The effect, the absence of the "sea birds". Perhaps try making a few comparisons of coastlines, make your own observatory points--at the marine sanctuary in Amlan there are plenty of birds. They swoop into the water from time to time for fresh food. In some areas along San Jose coastline, same thing. It has to be the presence of food and maybe I should add, clean waters; that keep the birds on site/sight. My two cents re this matter. Happy Sunday everyone!
