    :o Hi,

I will be staying in Dumaguete from May 1 to 5, with my husband and my mom. A friend of mine, a Philippino from Mindanao, told me that I should try Dumaguete, when he heard me talking about going back to Boracay, this time with mom, as me and my husband loved it. He said that Duma has nice beaches as well, and not as crowded or overpriced as Boracay.

So, I already bought the flight tickets to Duma.

I will appreciate nice hotels or resorts in Duma, hopefully on a nice beach. Maybe I should try staying in Duma City one or two nights, and stay in Sipalay or Guimaras for 2 nights.

Would you recommend this? First 2 days in the City and last 2 days on a beach?

Which hotels would you recommend? What I want to do is swimming, relaxing on the beach, having nice food.. mostly.

Would May 1-5 busy time in PI? Will it be difficult to find a room there?

    Thank you all in advance.
    Ashley

Hi, Ashley! My husband is going to DGT next month and, based on numerous recommendations, is staying at the Hotel Palwa. Check out the "hotels" link at the top of the page for info and pics.

We made his reservation online (actually we "chatted" with them at hotelpalwa@yahoo.com), and they couldn't have been nicer! They will also send a van to pick you up at the airport (300P).

Welcome to the Forums!! We have found a wealth of information here, and the members are all very willing to help. Have fun!

Dumaguete beaches are in no way in comparison to boracay! What kind of medication is your friend taking anyhow?

    Gotta find something in Duma

I don't know whether he was on something^^, but I know it's impossible to get tickets to Boracay now. I think I should try to get the best out of Duma.
What would be the best hotel you'd recommend, if I want to stay at a hotel right on the beach? Just laze out on the beach and walk into the ocean, and doing it over and over for at least 2 days?

Thanks and a place for 3?

    Sue, thank you!
I briefly looked into Palwa, but it didnt' seem to have a room for 3 people.
Should I try apartment, not hotel, if I want a room for 3 people? I have been surfing the net only by stealing some time out of my busy work schedule.. Maybe I should start seriously looking for a place tonight before it gets too late..

Florentina Homes offers apartments, cost a bit more but you have your own kitchenette and living area up to 4 people.

A nice quiet and valuable resort at the beach would be Well Beach.

The picture below is how the beach in Dauin looks like

Santa Monica resort is on the ocean and has beautiful landscaping, and isn't too far from Dgte proper. Food's good and they have a separate fish restaurant.

Will it take too long to go to Sipalay from the Dumaguete airport?
If I stay in Sipalay, can I catch the flight leaving at 8:55 in the morning?
If I stay in Wellbeach, can I catch the flight leaving at 8:55 in the morning?
Thank you thank you and thank you!!!
