I think the pool is not operating anymore, I asked last year when I tried to book a room for some guests of me.... but it also could be that the frontdesk-girls where scared when they saw me walking in with the idea to stuff simillar creatures in that place and having a pool-party with outside guests...:D

    Hi Jonny,
Too bad you don't see the sunrise from where you are back in Liloan. in Dumaguete, the sunrise could be seen from the direction of Siquijor, for it is situated directly east. Cebu island is a bit to the northeast. Perhaps you are luckier in this sense. I don't know about you, but i think a sunset would beat a sunrise view anytime.

Re Plaza Ma Luisa...I stayed there 2 years ago and asked about the swimming pool (as it was mentioned in the LP guide book I had). I was told the swimming pool was no more. I think they made it into a function room...

    El Dorado Resort

Rick stayed there for a couple of days; very nice place, has a pool, the beach, and Rick mentioned there were a number of families there. Not "lively" in a rowdy sense, but good food, relaxation and snorkeling, scuba available.

i found santa monica gr8 when i stayed there, not so much el oriente!
on the safety issue, i've found health and safety in the Philippines virtually un-heard of, until you try and get a business permit, then it's paramount!!!!! go figure? they want your money more than safety. that's always your own responsibilty here.

For safety you require a resort or a guarded compound, where the kids can't get run over, that's the biggest problem here.

Go with South Seas Hotel--it's a 5-minute drive from the airport; it's private, decent and clean. Further south I'd recommend Sta. Monica (still within city limits), Pura Vida (clean kiddie pool, decent, child-friendly resort) or Antulang Beach, (with kiddie pool plus another massive one which is shallow enough for a 9-year old, and last I looked, offered pony rides). Note that for Pura and Antulang, you may want to bring your own vehicle.
