Hello everyone. i was informed that my grandfather used to live in negros province. he was left in the train by his uncle when he was 7 years old. he was found by a certain couple from Batangas and from then on, he was adopted. we really want to trace his roots and try to meet our relatives. my mother tried that years ago. but the negros province did not find ways to help us. i hope fellow members can help me. my grandfather died 9 years ago without knowing who his brothers/sisters/relatives are. he told us that his real family name is MELO, but he used LAS PINAS when he was adopted by a certain family here in Batangas. i hope somebody can help me here. thank you so much.

Have you tried asking at the city halls in each city in Negros? I think they could help you if you hold any documents from your grandfather stating his birh name or passport copies stating the name he later used. They require some sort of identification. Or perhaps you could even ask them to pull up his birth certificate. Sorry if none of this helps you...

in order to be able to help you need to try give us some basic info. there are two negros provinces - negros oriental and negros occidental. which negros are you referring to? did he mention any particular town? btw, we did not have passenger trains here in the oriental side. i am not sure about the occidental area. good luck.
