Hello everyone...I'm planning to start a small business in Dumaguete as a commission portrait artist and I do really realism artworks and I use top grade artist materials.

However, I'm thinking if there's a market of this type of business so I need your comments and suggestions, that would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Janet

While I am not yet in PI, and your profile doesn't say where you are currently, I have been doing much research and from what I gather, Duma may not be the place to sell your wares as it SEEMS to be more of a living community. You may want to consider selling at one of the resort areas. Just a thought.

I like the Tiger. I would use that for your Avatar.

Thanks Coyotes that's really a very nice idea but I would like to have a small shop of mine if the feedback is good that I could sell fine arts and at the same time accept commissions.

Right now, I'm gathering ideas and feedbacks...before stepping my toes into it.

Please visit my website Janet Pancho Gupta's artworks to see some of my artworks.

I'm not sure how well you'd do in Dumaguete either....half the population is broke students...Have you given any thought to Panglao or PG perhaps? Plenty of money too in Bacolod, but the competition there would be heavy. There is an art scene there, and it's much appreciated and patronized from what I've seen.

no problems with a shop, but people frequent bars and resturants more frequently in my opinion, and the more places your work in displayed can only be good, weather your shop is in any place in negros, dumaguete can't hurt to advertise in

just a sugestion if the objective is to make money; maybe target wedding market, it seems a lively business in Filipines and a painted wedding portrait might find some local customers (easy to do from a picture I guess).
