I like your idea Coyotes...maybe I'll be handing some brochures or leave some posters with a portfolio to shops you mentioned....well see what else I could think of...thanks btw.

Arie, thanks for the comments...definitely cash and the love of my work are the objectives...and I do accept all subjects( people, animals(pets), floral(still life) and landscape.

Garbonzo thanks for the info...I did check Bacolod and I'm happy to know that people there love arts so much...how I wish Dumaguete people do feel the same way.

Anyways...I'll update you guys if I can manage to exhibit my artworks there in Dumaguete first thing...

    Hope to hear more ideas...

    Cheers,

I really like the idea of a wedding portrait. Now that the nuptials are finally paid off, I could probably afford one. What a wonderful anniversary gift!

I think the idea is fantastic in general but not that new.

without destroying dreams, but I had a look and I actually think its pretty expensive compared to prices offered here in the PI.

I had one made for my parents anyversary last year, oil on canvas, 2 people full body, detailed background 60 x 90 cm, 480 US, free shipping w/ fedex. (single portraits 30 x 40 cm are about 200-250$) I ordered it in Luzon and there are several Artists in Makati, Manila and Angeles doing that.

I also do not think that there is a real market for that in Dumaguete to be honest, so before you invest a lot money and nerves you may spend some time in investigating the situation here and what it really offers.

you will find many students with no money and the expat - community is not that who spend a lot into art.

For exhibitions you may wanna get in touch with the Sidlakan Negros Touristm Village. They support local artists.

    anyway, good luck

    Rhoody

Thanks Rhoody...I do understand what you mean as I came from this place but when I move there in Dumaguete it means the price is going to be different as the cost of living is different. Hong Kong is a very expensive place to live and if I charge like them definitely I'm gonna starve.

I appreciate your opinion...I'll keep that in mind definitely.

Dreams cost nothing, until you try and put them into practice, good luck with your dreams.

I don't think it'll fly, at least not for very long. There aren't many families in town that would or could pay for a portrait. Bacolod might be better, but it too has a limited population with extra funds for that. But I could be way wrong, just an opinion.

I've got a friend back in the US that does portraits btw, he's very good at all the art stuff he does. I think he's become more of a handyman lately to earn extra money though..

    Good luck :D

Thats right, you may believe you can support yourself on your talent but you just might find yourself having to depend more on your back and arms. Its good to have something to fall back on.
