how do these shop owners get away with it? i mean its steep right?

i was quoted P 50,000 a month for a shop front lease! how do they get people to lease ?

how about those people starting afresh a new business which has no name yet?

maybe there are very small shops we can trial our business idea?

    regards

    kevin :D

You could always setup shop in front of Lee Plaza. I would gladly buy whatever you are selling if you were to displace that guy selling the noise makers. :D Joke Lang.

Depends on what street the shop's on etc right? Why would you having no name for your business yet matter to the landlord?

There's a lot of spaces for rent, signs all over the place, go out in the morning before it's hot and polluted and take a look down each street to see what's available. Some are second story..

I think what he meant is that he's looking for a "front" for other shady activities. Maybe he wants to launder money for Abu Sayyaf.

LOL....that's very near the same price as shop rents in suburban shopping centres down here. I know our local deli owner is paying $20k AUD a year (that'd be 58k PHP a month) for a nice location of about 120 sqm. And he's complaining...

    lease prices

58K Phil Pesos a month sounds very high to me, especially for Dumaguete.

That translates into nearly $1,500 USD monthly.
