It surprises me that almost everyone on this forum is "hiding" behind a so-called nickname.
Is that so you can escape in real from your given opinion?
Can anyone give me an explanation because now I am on my real name in this forum but have still the possibility to chance this if necessary.
    Interested in your comments.

Hiding behind nicknames: A linguistic study of anonymity in IRC chatrooms

If you like to know an academic view of your question, I refer you to this study:

For me personally I need more time before I reveal everybody my true identity and open the door into my private life. Its not hiding, its just the name plate at the door. Knock and it will open, but only if you presence is accepted.

    Greetings from the Swiss alps.

I would suppose it would depend on your comfort level. For an international forum like this, I prefer to remain anonymous to those I dont know. I joined this forum mainly for information, not to start a biography, thats what facebook is for. There is also the sensation of fun and adventure in assuming a "nom de guerre" and being anonymous can be liberating and make one more spontaneous. So, whatever flips your switch.

That's nice Eeuwe but you are asking us to have faith in you, that you are telling the truth, that you are really who you say you are. The point is we don't know you and your purpose in joining the group. There are people out there who join blogs and collect personal information from members for a living then sell those information to third parties for legit business purpose but more dangerously for illicit purposes. You telling us your real name may be courageous or you're just plain naive about the web. I suggest that you be more careful.

I've joined several blogs before but left because people are mean to each other. Name calling, cursing, racist remarks are commonplace. Here Rhoody keep a tight leash on those activities so you feel safer and unafraid to express your feelings and in a way be vulnerable. You feel that you are among friends. That's how blogs should be. There's a lot of viral ones out there. Be careful.
