While riding my bicycle this afternoon, I noticed a sign which had previously escaped my attention. It advertised the presence and operating hours of the Jade Curry Restaurant.

As Friday night is our regular date, I suggested to my wife that we give it a try. Annabelle readily agreed. The restaurant is conveniently located on Flores Avenue, across from and mid-way between the two entrances to the Dumaguete port.

Our hosts were Ron and Naomi Hughes a delightful Welsh and Filipina couple. Their restaurant, which has been open for four weeks serves a variety of chicken, beef, pork seafood and vegetable curries.

I find most Filipino curry to be more yellow than curry, Anne had the Malaya and I the Tandaloo chicken: hers milder and mine with a significant bite. We had cauliflower and a side order of naan bread. The naan is to die for!

The menu includes some non-curry items, notably fish & chips. A British breakfast of the Bed & Breakfast variety, with two count 'em two egss, tomatoes and beans is offered for 150 pesos. We'll try that our next trip out!

The room is simply yet smartly furnished and the aircon works! Ron and Naomi are a delightful, warm and hospitable couple. We truly felt like well received guests rather than diners in a restaurant.

Our meal came to 542 pesos for the two of us. It was wonderfil value for money. We encourage you to give this gem a try. You will not be disappointed!
