Kumusta folks. Reading this forum for a while but this is my 1st post.

Landing after Scandinavian summer to look for a place to stay quite so permanently. Never been to PI before but travelled much of SEA, even lived in LOS some 2 years.

Actually my first place to check is Moalboal, Dumaguete area comes second.
    Pros for Moalboal:
    *home reef (1st priority)
    *sunset beach
    *relax place
    Pros for Duma
    *city with university, service
*Negros more interesting island to explore

So folks, talk the talk. S of Duma nice home reefs but not like Cebu west side with a great reef all way down to Liloan? Also Duain often hit by storms, waves (I am not a surfer). And sun wakes You up before the roosters do :D

What about N of Duma, Amlan and up? This is Tanon Straits, any nice home reefs?

I am a diver but love to snorkel. Everyday. OK, I keep it short 1st time. You have the best forum in PI.

Maybe Moalboal is best for you. There is no reason that we should try to persuade you to come here when your mind is already made up. Hope you like small town peyton place style areas.Actually both places are a bit like that come to think of it

Good Midsummer to You too bikerdave. If You read my message You find out I´m coming over to look for a place to stay. Not yet decided it is. First reality check.

In my mind Moalboal belongs to Dumaquete. Be warned: I come to Dumaguete anyway for visa, diving, shopping AND it´s all Your fault because You write so nice about Duma

Any other pros for Duma? cons for Moalboal?

FYI: rainshowers and +14C - they call it summer here

There really aren't too many diving reefs north of Duma - that I KNOW of! LOL.
There is one right at Amlan, though they try to keep it a secret. I think you have to obtain permission as it may be clasified as a sanctuary, or something like that.
There must also be one further up the coast around Guihulngan, as I'm told there's a foreigner that has a dive shop on the beach there....so why a dive shop if there's no place to dive?? So I THINK there must be a reef close by that place.
    Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks Don. Secret reefs no wise man talk in public

Looks like M-word is too much for gentle people. Don´t be afraid, M is no match to DGT. No cons for M either... Please, must be more than peytonplace-story (thank You diverbake).

So I will do exploration on my own. Which is ofcourse the method to prefer. If You encounter a stranger asking stupid questions round Bacong, Dauin, Zambo (and M), it´s me folks. Say hello, I wont bite. I also enjoy a beer now and then. Have tasted Spanish SanMiguel, next the original one...
