Hi Pedro, my family are all Philippino. My family are all 100% Philippino. I must say my wife speaks several dialects of the local Language from North to South sorta say. Her English is getting better all the time too. My children attend a private school here in Davao and they are learning Chinese, English, Tagalog and Visaya. I encourgage the children to speak English at the dinner table so I can see how their doing in school, it really makes me feel good when my 8yr son works as my translator which he enjoys doing to. I find that most private schools here anyways teach English, Tagalog, Chinese. The public schools teach in Tagalog, and some Visyan and English, it is based on how far out in the Province you adventure to see the language being taught. I agree with you about the importance of learning the Native language, it holds the society together, and thats what is important to me.

    Hello Sailor!!!
How long have you lived in Mindanao?
Why the move to Dumaguete ? It sounds like you would be safer and better off where you are.

Hello John boy, I am just looking around the Philippines for other nice places than Davao to add to my list of places I would like to put roots down. My main requirement is higher education opportunities for the kids and safety. And I think that alot of parents wish the same for their children. We have some wonderful friends who live up in Valencia who we visit a few times a year. I like the college there and the feel of the city. Thats all, no major issues. We enjoy meeting other people, cultures, and sights. Thanks Keith

Take up your point....my wife is from Iligan Mindanao.
We have decided not to build on the lot at Opol, so sad, overlooking the small harbour.
Hope situation changes before I retire. Valencia was my next option.
Best wishes Keith to you and the family........john

Hi culumbinus, yes that is what I like about the colleges there. They are nationally recognized and I would like to have my children attend those schools when they reach that age. Thankyou for your reply. Thanks Keith
